Co-ordination and Scientific Management

The IMPACT project is a large network project involving collaboration between University, Research Institute and Industrial partners. The project is coordinated on behalf of the participating laboratories by Professor Fergal O'Gara, University College, Cork, Ireland, with the aid of a Science Panel. The Science Panel consists of three members of the IMPACT network together with Dr. I. Economidis, Scientific Officer of the EU Biotechnology unit responsible for implementation of the IMPACT project on behalf of the EU Commission. The Science Panel is responsible for setting the science policy and implementing the objectives outlined in the project in consultation with the network partners. In addition the Science Panel can be assisted in its tasks by external experts. An important objective of co-ordination is to maximise collaboration between the research laboratories and to regulate the flow of information from the project to external interested partners such as industry and biotechnology and regulatory agencies.
