Weekly meetings on Tuesdays in Áras na Laoi VII at 7.30pm. New members and Freedom Institute infiltrators always welcome.

May
Thursday, 19th: UCCYGs mount a campaign of opposition to the twinning of Cork with Shanghai in light of continuing Chinese human rights abuses. The Shanghai delegation to UCC will be greeted by a 2m long banner (below - not actual size) in the University's busiest thoroughfare. Culminates in a demonstration outside City Hall at 3pm.

Friday 13th - Sunday 15th: Annual Convention of the (grown-up) Green Party takes place in the Silver Springs Hotel, Cork. The UCC Greens present a motion calling for reform of state funding of private secondary school education.

March
Tuesday, 29th: Annual General Meeting. An expanded committee of ten members elected, reflecting the year's immense growth.

Wednesday, 16th: Visited our sister branch in Galway for a tête-à-tête, free food and to enjoy the pre-Paddy's Day festivities.

February
Monday 14th - Friday 18th: Green Week: Events included a public forum entitled "Climate Change and the End of Oil" featuring a number of prominent academics and attended by an audience of 130, a public showing of "The Day After Tomorrow", and distribution of the Young Greens' "I Love Kyoto" Valentine postcards. Events were covered by The UCC Express (read the aricle here), The Irish Examiner (twice) and The Irish Times.

Green Library Launched: During the month, we launched an educational scheme whereby members can borrow books on various environmental, economic and social issues. The books were purchased from a bursary of almost €200 and it is hoped the scheme will be expanded in coming years.

January
Saturday, 15th: UCCYGs to host a YG National Executive meeting where the blueprint for world domination will be drawn up.

Monday, 31st: UCC Philosoph (in conjunction with UCCYGs) stage a public debate on the motion, "That This House Believes in a Nuclear Future." Eamonn Ryan TD provides opposition to the motion. Prior to the debate, Eamonn Ryan and Dan Boyle attend a wine & cheese reception hosted by UCC Young Greens.

December
Tuesday, 14th: UCCYGs Christmas/Mid-winter Party. Went to see the though-provoking film, "The Corporation" in the Kino, followed by drinking.

November
Monday, 15th - Friday, 19th: Week-long National Young Greens campaign calling for legalisation of gay marriage. Culminated in petition submission to the Department of Justice, Dublin.

Tuesday, 16th:UCC Greens host a public lecture address and poetry reading calling on the Minister for the Environment not to build the M3 through the Tara-Skyrne valley.

Friday, 19th - Sunday, 21st: Young Greens National Convention hosted by TCD Greens. Thirteen UCCYG delegates attend and four UCC students are elected to the National Executive; Pat Barrett (Chair), Eoin Daly (Policy Convenor), Brendan Ryan (International Liaisons Officer), Stephen Crowley (Munster Rep).

October
Tuesday, 7th: Opening meeting of UCC Greens, 7.30pm, G18 (Kane). Featuring an address by Dan Boyle TD.

Wednesday, 29th: UCC Societies Day. UCC Greens widely commended for having the best stand of all the political societies. Number of signatures collected a new record.
