Frequently Asked Questions

What is UCC Direct?

UCC Direct is a student information portal tailored to meet your needs. It is a one-stop shop where you can access your student records and your e-mail. In addition to this you can customise your information links using the portal's favourites option.

How do I access UCC Direct?

Simply log in using the Login form at the top of this page! This Login feature is available on all pages on http://sit.ucc.ie

Note: if you are trying to login to UCC Direct off-campus and you are experiencing difficulities, please click here.

What is my UCC Direct username and password?

Your username is your UCC Student Number and your password is a four-digit PIN number. If you are new to UCC you will have received your PIN details in a letter posted to your home address. If you are continuing studies in UCC, the PIN number is the number you received from UCC to access your exam results and to register online.

What if I don't know my PIN?

Please visit the Student Helpdesk in the Boole Basement with your student ID card.

If you are not on Campus you can telephone the Student Helpdesk on (021) 490 2622

What if an error message occurs on Login?

Please visit the Student Helpdesk - take note of the error message displayed. e.g. ('Authentication Error', 'Permission Error', 'Your account is globally locked')

If you get the "Your Account is Globally Locked" error message:

Your account will be locked if you've tried to log on 10 times incorrectly. Usually this means that you're using an incorrect student number or PIN number. (see above for how to get your PIN). If your account is locked, it will automatically unlock 24 hours from your last login attempt.

Can I change my UCC Direct PIN?

At the moment you cannot change your PIN for UCC Direct.

What does single sign-on mean?

Single sign-on means that, once you have logged into UCC Direct, you do not have to identify yourself again when you want to access your student administration details or your student email account. You are automatically logged into these single sign-on applications when you log into UCC Direct.

Are all the applications on UCC Direct single sign-on?

Yes. Currently the student administration and e-mail applications are the only applications available via single sign-on.
