Welcome to Dramat - UCCs Drama Society
HI! Welcome to the Dramat web site . Dramat is the only English drama society in UCC and one of the oldest societies on campus. To get involved in Dramat you do not need to be a member of the committee and we welcome and encourage anyone with an interest in drama to get involved. No experience necessary!!
Plays and performances are put on throughout the college year in the Granary Theatre, The Mardyke, Cork . These performances range from original work to well known classics and almost every aspect of each production is organized by UCC students. Needless to say we are always looking for people willing to help out and whether you are interested in directing, producing, acting or backstage work our society offers students a worthwhile and fun way to get involved in theatre.
There are four productions on this term, and there will be more after Christmas, so look out for posters, and also keep an eye on the News page here. If you want to get involved in the other parts of Dramat send us an email to: uccdramat@gmail.com for more information.
29th March, 2006.
Hey there. Raymond here.
The New Committee, Dramat's 156th, has been elected, and, as I have not been elected onto it, it is time for me to say goodbye. Soon, you'll be talking to your new Dramat Webmaster, Stephen O'Connor. It's been fun, working here for the last 5 months. Can't believe it's realistically so short a time, but it's been a great experience.
But, before I go, I just want to thank a few people.
- Firstly, Michael Bate, this year's auditor. Thanks for taking a chance on me. I hope I didn't let you down.
- Secondly, thanks to the following people for all their support during the year: Lucie Ryan-Donnelly, Ray Alley, Walter Mansfield, Dara Gilroy, Lady Eve D'Alton, Muireann McSwiney-O'Rourke, Susan Holland, Cathy Walsh, Paula Lynch, Sara-Jane Power, Jack O'Rourke, Marie-Therese Quirke, Maria Moynihan, Karen Collins, Sarah O'Connor, Lyndel Dowd, Geraldine Kendall, Eileen O'Shea, Catherine Ireton, Golda Hession, Gillian Horgan, and of course my beautiful girlfriend, Emer Browne.
- Thirdly, thanks to Maurice Ryder for putting up with me all year. This site is as much yours as mine and Dramat's.
- Fourthly, a big and special shout out to Vicky Langan, who should be here as Webmaster, and not me. You would have done a million times a better job than me, and given both ISDA and Dramat the site they deserve. I only hope that the decisions I made regarding the site were ones you would have made in the same circumstances.
- Fifthly, thank you to DeeMcClean and Gillian Thompson for all your help in doing the ISDA minisite, which, of course, became the ISDA site, and for letting me have the opportunity, along with Mike, to represent my college, both here in Cork, and nationally.
- Sixthly, all the very best to the new man coming in. Stephen, it's a tough job doing this. You're not seen that often. Your words are seen more than your voice is heard. But it is rewarding. I wish you all the best. Don't worry - I'll be watching.
- Finally, thank you to everyone who signed up to WebDraMaster. It's not going anywhere for now, folks. Hopefully I'll talk to you all soon!
That's all from me, so, thanks for everything, everyone. Hopefully I'll see you all in the auditions next year. But until then, keep smiling, keep laughing, and best of luck to one and all in the upcoming exams.
Raymond Brothers-Tindley, Outgoing Webmaster, the 155th Dramat Committee 2005-06.
