The Department of French has a distinguished record of achievement in teaching and research since the foundation of U.C.C. The staff of the Department carry out teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and research in a wide range of areas within French as an academic subject. At present, up to 600 students are studying French as a primary degree subject in the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences and in the College of Business and Law, and up to 125 students graduate with French as one of their degree subjects each year. We also have postgraduate students working on a variety of postgraduate programmes, a number of whom are working on research degrees.
The Department of French is located on the first floor of the O'Rahilly Building. The Departmental Office, which is open to visitors each day between 11.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. and between 3.30 and 4.30 p.m., is in room 1.13, block A. A map of the campus is available online. The postal address is:
