Science Students Trust Fund

  1. Introduction As part of an initiative to assist science students a Science Society aided trust fund has been made available to UCC science students with the co-operation of UCC Students' Union.
  2. Who can apply All full time registered first time undergraduate science students for the 2002/2003 academic year are eligible to apply for a bursary, however the four €500 awards will be targeted at those disadvantaged students most in need.
  3. Making an application Please complete the attached application form as follows:

    Section A: Personal Details - to be completed by all applicants
    Section B: Confidential Information - to be completed by all applicants except mature students
    Section C: Confidential Information - Mature Students only
    Section D: Why I deserve this award in 100 to 500 words
    Section E: Declaration - to be completed by all applicants

    The following copies of financial documents (original not necessary) relating to income must be submitted in support of your application (if you are a mature student, all financial details relate to your own personal circumstances, as opposed to that of a parent or guardian):
    i. PAYE Employee:
    Copy of Form P60 from your parents'/ guardian's employer(s)/pension source for the year ended 31 December 2001 (issued by the employer each year).
    and
    Copy of Form P21 for the year ended 31 December 2001
    (Contact Revenue Commissioners if necessary at 1890 60 50 90).

    ii. Self-employed and persons engaged in farming activities
    Where your parent(s) or guardians are self-employed, a copy of audited financial statements and a copy of Notice of Assessment in respect of the year ended 31 December 2001.
    (Contact Revenue Commissioners if necessary, at 1890 60 50 90).

    iii. Social Welfare Recipient
    Where your parent(s) or guardian are in receipt of a payment from the Department of Social & Family Affairs, a statement from your Social & Family Affairs Office showing the total amounts received for the year ended 31 December 2001.
    and
    Copy of Form P21 for the year ended 31 December 2001
    (Contact Revenue Commissioners if necessary, at 1890 60 50 90).

Applications should be forwarded to the Welfare Office in the Students' Union offices at 4, Carrickside, College Rd. or to any member of the Science Society Committee by Friday 28th March 2003. The successful applicants will be notified, in writing, by Thursday 1st May 2003. All applications will be treated with strict confidentiality.

Please submit application forms by the deadlines outlined above. If documentation is outstanding from the Revenue Commissioners please submit the application form with a note advising when the documentation will be forwarded.
