Student Mediation

In line with UCC’s commitment to enhancing the student experience and to support the resolution of student issues that have resulted in disputes, the Registrar’s Office, in collaboration with Campus Watch Committee and the Staff Training and Development Unit, Human Resources, is pleased to announce the launch of a Pilot Student Mediation Service during the academic year 2008/09.  A panel of accredited mediators has been established comprising of staff members from across UCC.  The service is accessible via Campus Watch (www.ucc.ie/campuswatch).

Mediation can be defined as “a process in which an impartial and independent third party facilitates communication and negotiation between parties to a dispute and promotes voluntary decision making that assists them in reaching a mutually acceptable solution” (The Mediators Institute of Ireland).
