Welcome to the UCC Computer Training Centre
The Computer Training Centre co-ordinates and provides IT training to the University community of staff and postgraduate students. The training centre, an accredited ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) testing centre, is an integral unit of the User Services section of the UCC Computer Centre and is located on the 4th floor of the Kane Building within the main UCC campus.
The Computer Training Centre provides a number of services to and on behalf of the University. These include:
• IT Training for staff
• IT Training for students
• ECDL testing and certification
• Co-ordination of IT training courses with 3rd parties
• Phone/Email/Remote support on software queries
• Information Sessions on current and emerging technologies
Our courses range in length from half day courses to short 2-hour courses to introduce you to new skills and to enhance existing ones.
Training Courses:
The Computer Training Centre offers a wide range of in-house IT courses that includes self paced ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) and classroom training in the Microsoft Office Applications, UCC’s Content Management System (used to create and maintain UCC websites), Adobe Photoshop, LaTeX (document markup language and document preparation system for the TeX typesetting program) and courses on University wide central administration applications, such as DMIS, ITS and HRIS.
The Microsoft Office courses are available from introductory through to advanced level and run once or twice a month depending on demand. The ECDL course is an interactive self-paced online course available through blackboard, UCC’s Virtual Learning Environment. ECDL testing is held in the Training Centre on a weekly basis. Tailored courses for groups:
The Computer Training Centre also creates department group/postgraduate class group courses in Microsoft Office, CMS and Photoshop tailored to the specific needs of the group. For more information on this, please email tcentre@ucc.ie
