What is BComm (Hons) International with German?

The Commerce (International) degrees combine business with language and culture to provide students with the necessary tools to work effectively in an international environment. The degree gives students an understanding of, and an ability to operate within, a wide range of business areas at home and abroad. It is a broadly based business degree that combines the study of a chosen language with its associated culture and business environment.

What will I be Studying?

Year 1	45 Credits of Accounting, Business Economics, Business Maths, Government, Law, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing Plus 15 credits of German Language, Literature and Culture
Year 2	All subject areas as outlined in Year 1 are taken to the value of 35 credits, except Law. Language and Culture modules are taken to the value of 25 credits.
Year 3	This year is spent studying abroad, normally within the Business Faculty of the international partner institution. Business subjects are studied in German.
Year 4	35 credits from: Accounting, Finance and Information Systems, Business Economics, Food Business & Development, Government, Management & Marketing, Mathematics & Statistics 25 credits of German Language, Literature and Culture

Placement

Students spend Year 3 studying through German at an approved university in Germany or Austria. These may include:

University of Rostock, Konstanz, Nurnberg
Business University of Vienna
University of Klagenfurt

Entry Requirements for BComm (Hons) International with German

Irish School Leavers:

HC3 in two subjects and passes in four other subjects at H or O level in the Leaving Certificate from Irish, English, another language, Mathematics and two other subjects recognised for entry purposes. Those wishing to sign up to beginners level German must have a HC1 in French, German, Italian, Spanish, Irish, Latin or Greek. Those wishing to take up post-Leaving Certificate level German must have a HC3 in German.

Postgraduate Opportunities

Students of the programme have a range of postgraduate opportunities available to them at UCC including Higher Diplomas, MBS programmes, MComm, MSC, MPhil or MA by research. Students may also study Masters in programmes, including in language disciplines, in other universities.

Career Opportunities

The programme is designed so that graduates are attractive to organisations that do business internationally. These include careers in accounting, advertising, consulting, general management, marketing, insurance, tax, personnel, teaching and tourism.
