Greek and Roman Civilisation
Why Study Greek and Roman Civilisation?
Greek and Roman Civilisation introduces the student to the cultures of the Greeks and Romans, and to how these cultures oversaw the birth and development of the Western world including Christianity. The study of their literary, philosophical and artistic heritage has hugely influenced Western culture, making this course a really important adjunct to the study of all the European literatures, English, History, Philosophy, and the History of Art.
Overview
Greek and Roman Civilisation introduces students to the central aspects of these two ancient cultures, their histories, their literatures, their social patterns, their artistic achievements and their legacy to the later world. In Second and Final Years, students are trained further in a number of the aspects treated in Year One.
