Why Study Folklore?

Folklore has long been considered a key element of Irishness and popular culture, but what is it? In what sense has Ireland got a popular culture and what are teh characteristics of it? Irish Folklore and Culture: An Introduction is designed to introduce the subject and discipline of folklore and ethnology andcultural studies to beginners. It presents an outline of the culture and discusses examples to introduce the main areas of itnerest and some of the key approaches.
