MComm (Supply Chain Management)

Duration: This postgraduate degree is offered over 24 months for part-time students.  This programme design assists individuals integrate their studies with their careers and incorporate their working experience into an accredited learning process.

Overview of MComm (Supply Chain Management) (MComm)

The MComm in Supply Chain Management (SCM) offers a Masters accreditation and is primarily aimed at experienced practitioners working in industry, semi-state bodies and relevant government organisations.  This postgraduate degree in research provides participants with the opportunity to substantially develop their understanding and knowledge of Supply Chain Management in relation to their working context.



Research Areas

Those undertaking the programme participate in a series of seminars and will produce a thesis, contributing to a chosen research area, whilst engaging in reflective research and developing state-of-the-art knowledge in leading-edge SCM thinking.


Programme Objectives

  • Develop candidates' research skills and ability to apply these skills in addressing SCM issues.
  • Strengthen candidates understanding of fundamental concepts and principles of SCM and enable them to apply these principles in their place of employment.
  • Apply knowledge, understanding and problem-solving abilities to a specific supply chain context.
  • Resolve the complexities inherent in supply chain research and development.
  • Facilitate life-long learning and, for many candidates, a new mode of learning through research activity.

Research Workshops

Through participating in formal research workshops, candidates will gain an understanding of what is involved in the research process, including formailising an initial research idea, collecting an analysing relevant data, and reaching valid conclusions through the research process.  The workshop will provide candidates with the neccessary skills and experience to achieve these goals and interaction with other postgraduate students.

Thesis

The thesis represents an in-depth study of the candidate's chosen specialization.  It is typically between 30,000 and 40,000 words, and is formally supervised by staff within the University.

Entry Requirements

A candidate who is the holder of a degree or toher professional qualification or appropriate relevant experience and who has a minimum of three years' professional business/administrative experience is eligible for the MComm Degree, subject to the approval of the Graduate Studies Committee.
