Visiting US & Non-EU Students: How Do I Apply?
Definition of a Visiting Student
A Visiting Student is a student admitted to undertake a programme of study for one year or one semester. A Visiting Student is not being admitted to a programme leading to a Degree, Diploma or any other award of the University.
Application Process
You should apply using the Visiting US & Non-EU Application Form 2012-2013 (251kB) . This form can be completed and emailed to Victoria Pearson - v.pearson@ucc.ie The form can also be printed and sent to our address given on the contacts website. Please note that an up-to-date original transcript should be sent.
Please note that in the case of other programmes offering study options at UCC (e.g. Centre for Study Abroad, Arcadia University, Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University, Boston College, Hollins College, InterStudy, Suffolk University, University of California, University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Washington College) different procedures and deadlines may apply. You should consult the appropriate literature in such cases.
G.P.A. Requirement
The minimum GPA. required is normally 3.0 or above. However, applications between 2.8 and 3.0 will be considered in exceptional circumstances. Thus, if a student who wishes to study History at UCC has good grades in history or a related topic but an overall GPA. of less than 3.0 because of lower grades in an unrelated subject, his/her application will be treated sympathetically. We regret that applications with a GPA of less than 2.8 cannot be accepted.
Closing Date for Applications
The deadline for applications for the Early Start, Autumn Semester and Full Academic Year programmes is 25th May 2012, although you should note that in the case of certain popular course options, as well as certain housing options, the earlier you apply the better.
The deadline for Spring Semester applications is 26th October 2012.
Admission
Applications are dealt with on being received and decisions as to whether or not to accept applicants are normally taken not later than May preceding the proposed date of entry or, in the case of Spring Semester applications, not later than November preceding the proposed date of entry.
Confirmation of Acceptance
Once your application has been approved you will receive a letter confirming your acceptance at UCC. You must bring this letter with you when you come to Cork to commence your studies. If, for some reason, you are unable to accept your place at UCC please advise the International Education Office as soon as possible.
