Advocacy

The Disability Support Officer engages in on-going consultations with the Buildings Office in addressing physical access issues and raising awareness of on-campus difficulties for students with disabilities, both physical and sensory.

Peer Mentoring programme

The Peer Mentoring Programme offers support to students with mental health problems, who may be experiencing difficulties integrating and coping with University life. This programme helps to promote positive mental health awareness on campus.

UCC has also launched the Peer Assisted Student Support (PASS) initiative that aims to enhance existing student-to-student supports in the university, as well as implement new university-wide peer support schemes. For more information on this initiative, please click here.

Campus Transport and Accessibility

An on-campus transport service is operated daily. This is a joint project between UCC and the Irish Wheelchair Association. The transport service operates between 8.30 a.m. and 4 p.m. and includes on-campus and lecture venue pickups.

Sports and Recreation Programme

The Mardyke Arena is a fully accessible sports facility consisting of a 25 metre swimming pool, changing rooms and a gym which provides dual purpose equipment. Some clubs located at the Mardyke Arena are Aikido, Badminton, Canoeing, Dance, Equestrian, Fencing, Gaelic Football, Hockey, IN Line Roller Hockey, Judo, Karate, Motorcycle, Orienteering, Rowing, Rugby, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, Volleyball, Windsurfing, Ultimate Frisbee.

Student Clubs and Societies

Whatever your interest: music, drama, film, spirituality, human rights, science, history, there is a society for you. If you want to get involved, the Accommodations Office will provide you with all the necessary facilities to assist you with your work for your society. A small sample of the societies available include: Amnesty International, Business Information Systems, Choral Society, Dramat, Earthwatch, Film Soc., Geographical, Historical, International Student Society, Live Music, Mature Students Society, One World, Philosophical Society, Simon, Visual Arts, Wargaming and Role Playing, Young Fine Gael.
