Hu Wenzhe hails from Guangxi Province and is a student from Guilin University of Electronic and Technology (GUET) in China. Hu will begin his final year in Electrical Engineering this year. Hu has just completed a five-month work placement in the Tyndall National Institute, the largest microelectronic research institute in Ireland. Wenzhe found that the work placement has enhanced his abilities from a technical point of view but also his personal and report writing skills.
Says Wenzhe “I have been studying in UCC for a year already. During this period I have had a challenging and interesting experience. It was tough initially as I was adjusting to a new system. However, lecturers and classmates were very helpful; they gave me a lot of support for the first few weeks while I was getting used to the new environment. With their help, I had a smooth finish to my first year of study in Ireland, and I achieved First Class Honours in the final exam. Irish people are very friendly. Over the last year, I have made lots of Irish friends. In my spare time, I play football and I am a member of our class football team. Recently we participated in a very exciting football competition – the Engineering Cup. Although we lost the game, it was great fun!”
