Chinese Stories from University College Cork
Dear Reader,
It is my pleasure to introduce a collection of stories, in words and pictures, of Chinese students and graduates of University College Cork (UCC), Ireland.
Each student or graduate profiled has something notable to relate, the vast range of stories reflecting the rich experiences of those many Chinese who have come to UCC to study. All of those featured have achieved academic excellence and a number have been singled out for special academic awards. Many have succeeded in obtaining attractive job offers either here in Ireland or back home in China; in all cases the quality of their UCC degree has helped them enormously in career terms. Proving that it is possible to both work hard and play hard, several of the students and graduates have become engaged in activities outside the classroom from hurling (traditional Irish sport) to dancing, from working at a radio station to winning a beauty contest!
In all cases, those featured have brought honour and distinction to University College Cork and to their home universities and schools in China.
In this, our first issue of Chinese Stories from University College Cork, we have taken just a small sample of success stories. We plan on expanding the production in the coming months. If you are a Chinese student at UCC or have already graduated, please do contact us to share your experience. There are many stories out there yet untold!
My colleagues Emma Connolly and Gary Hurley have greatly assisted in tracking down the stories contained within this edition. We all look forward to staying in touch with you.
Please email us at e.connolly@ucc.ie to share with us the UCC experience!
