About the Staff Wireless Internet Access Service
Wireless Internet access is available for UCC staff who wish to connect their laptop, tablet, smartphone or other compliant portable computer device to the Internet while on campus.
Wireless Internet Access is a complementary service to that provided by the cabled network (UCC LAN) available in all staff offices and, though it does not have the same level of performance, service or reliability, it may be useful for those who spend time away from their office or travel between the different UCC campuses on a regular basis.
Steps involved
- If you would like to register your device for the wireless you can see the minimum requirements listed below.
- Once you have registered your device you will be sent an email explaining what you will need to do next. You will be asked to contact Lorraine McLoughlin, the Helpdesk manager ext 2101, to arrange a timeslot to drop your device at the helpdesk to be configured for the wireless.
- Alternatively you can see how to configure your device yourself. You then simply ask the helpdesk ext.2120 to approve your registration and give you logon credentials.
Wireless hotspots are available throughout the University and can be accessed if the computer has the required configuration and has been registered with the Computer Centre. As the service requires authentication, staff will be issued with logon credentials to connect to the network.
If you have any questions please email staffwireless@ucc.ie or call the Helpdesk at telephone (490) 2120.
Other details of the UCC staff wireless dervice are contained on the menu options on the left.
