Software Information for Staff
The Combined Higher Education Software Team, CHEST project negotiates special deals for the purchasing and licensing of software for third level educational institutions. Software manufacturers and suppliers offer special prices because of the cost-saving they achieve through bulk purchases and the reduction in paperwork. Following is a list of software currently available through CHEST deals. Documentation for most products must be purchased separately. Additional software is available at reduced prices and may be researched at http://www.chest.ac.uk
Microsoft Software for College Machines
A full site licence for most Microsoft software has been agreed. This means that most Microsoft software is available free of charge for use on college machines. The software (excluding Operating Systems) can also be installed on one additional machine at home if used for College work.

- Minitab - Windows
- NAG Fortran Library - Windows, Unix
- NVivo - Qualitative Statistical Software - Windows
- SAS - Windows
- SPSS - Windows, Mac OS/X (Available for students as well as staff)

Additional Microsoft products other than those listed above are available on the standard Select agreement. This is paid for via Purchase Order made payable to Micromail Ltd (our Microsoft re-seller). At the moment all software is obtainable from Jim Calnan, Computer Centre Technical Support, 4th Floor, Kane Building, email j.calnan@ucc.ie
Note that MS Project and Microsoft Server products are not available on the Microsoft Campus License but may be purchased at reduced Select Scheme prices.
