Selection Committee

A Selection Committee (comprising a Chair, Vice Chair and five members) will hold responsibility for evaluating nominations and determining the successful individual(s) or team(s) (as appropriate) for each award category. The membership of the Selection Committee for the 2011/12 call is as follows:

1. Chair: Dr Áine Ryall (Chair SDEC);

2. Vice Chair: A member of Governing Body appointed by the President, who is an external Governor;

3. Other Members:

  • One member from the Department of Human Resources;
  • Two members from the Staff Development and Enhancement Sub Committee (SDEC);
  • One member from the Governing Body Committee on Staff who is not an external Governor;
  • One member from the Governing Body Committee on Students who is not an external Governor. 

The Chair will convene the Selection Committee following the closing date for receipt of nominations. The Committee will administer, receive, evaluate and recommend the successful individual(s) or team(s) (as appropriate) for each award category. 

Any Selection Committee member who accepts a nomination for an award will be required to withdraw from the Committee and a replacement must be designated by the Staff Development and Enhancement Sub Committee (SDEC). If a SDEC member, who is also a member of the Selection Committee, nominates an individual/team, or provides a supporting letter, he/she will be required to withdraw from the Selection Committee.

The awards are based on the merit of the nomination. The Selection Committee may decide not to select any nominee in a particular award category. In that case, no award will be presented for the particular category.

 

AWARD CEREMONY

The Award ceremony, hosted by the President, is an annual event. The ceremony for the 2011/2012 programme will be held on 11th October 2012.  Each Awardee receives a memento and certificate.
