Purpose of the Programme
The University Staff Recognition Awards Programme was recommended by the Staff Enhancement and Professional Development Committee, made up of members representing various Colleges and Administrative Departments of the University, and adopted by the President. The guidelines were developed following a review of programmes initiated in other Universities in the US, Canada and EU. In addition, committee members have contributed to the development of guidelines drawing on their experiences and ideas. Recommendations from the judging panels for last year's awards have also been incorporated into the Programme for 2011.
The purpose of the University Staff Recognition Awards Programme is to recognise outstanding achievements and contributions of staff toward realising the vision and goals of University College Cork. The Programme acknowledges staff for individual or team accomplishments, whose work had a major impact on the University, who have excelled in the performance of their role and that is inspirational to others.
This Programme compliments informal recognition and appreciation of staff on a day to day basis. Informal recognition is highly valued as contributing to the wellbeing and morale of all staff in the University.
