Wireless Computing on Campus

About Student Wireless Internet Registration

The UCC Computer Centre has launced a scheme where students can register their laptops with us so they can take advantage of wireless network services on campus.

Student should firstly register on this website, and then update their operating system and anti-virus software before bringing their laptop to the staff at the Student Helpdesk in the Boole Basement for final registration.

Registration will take place daily in the Boole Basement from 14:00 - 16:00

Terms of Service

The registration will be limited to valid UCC students only, and to one laptop, and one PDA per person. You will need to re-register at the start of each academic year.

All users of the service are required to keep their Operating Systems fully patched and up-to-date. Anti-Virus software must also be updated. Users who do not update the software on their computers are liable to be disconnected from the network.

All network access will be through a proxy operating on port 80 - i.e. http (web) access only. If you have any queries on this, please feel free to ask at the Student Helpdesk.

Minimum Requirements to Connect to the UCC network

Operating System
  • Microsoft Windows - Windows Vista, Windows XP
    Windows 2000 may work with appropriate drivers
  • Apple Macintosh - MacOSX 10.4, MacOSX 10.3 (with Airport Software v3.3) 
  • Linux - Most modern Linux Distributions should work on our network
Network Interface WPA compliant Network Card
Anti-Virus All laptops must be fully patched and have up to date anti-virus software installed. We can supply students with software if you do not already have an anti-virus package.
