Wireless Configuration - Technical Details

These are the exact details are needed to connect to the UCC wireless network.

Network Name (SSID) UCC Students
Username Your Student ID Number
Password The same password that you use to log-on to the computers in the Student IT Centres
Authentication Type WPA2 Enterprise with AES Encryption
Security Key/Passpharese Not Applicable
EAP Type PEAP/MS-CHAPv2
Certificate Do not validate server certificates
Proxy Auto Config(PAC)

Auto-detect proxy settings should work but if not the proxy can be set to http-proxy and the port set to 8080

For MacOSX use http://wpad/wpad.dat
Access to http and https (port 80 and 443 only) Many applications e.g. MSN AIM etc. should automatically pick up the system proxy settings

IP Address Automatically assigned by DHCP

Important Information

After entering your credentials correctly, they should remain cached, and should not need to be re-entered for subsequent connections. However, be sure to remember your username and password should they become necessary in the future! You can get your password reset at the IT Helpdesk for Students with your Student ID card.
