DIY Configuration - Automatic and Manual Options
Below you will find the instructions on how to configure your device for the wireless network. Automatic options exist for Windows 7 and Windows Vista, for Mac OS X 10.5 and 10. 6 manual instuctions are provided. Linux users should be able to use the information in the wireless technical specification to configure their devices: Wireless Technical Specification
Automatic Configuration - Windows 7 and Vista
If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7 running on your laptop and you want to avoid the queues in the Boole Basement you can use an application to auto-configure your laptop. Simply do the following:

Follow these steps
- Extract the files to a folder (preferably your desktop).
- Double-click on the file called su1x-setup.exe and input your student number and password in the 2 fields contained.
- Click on the "Start setup" button and it will configure your laptop (be patient it can take a minute)
- Call to the student helpdesk with college ID to get your registration enabled.

Apple Devices
For MacOSX 10.7 and 10.8 :
- Select the Wi-Fi symbol in the top right hand corner and Choose "UCC Students".
- Enter your Student ID and password for the open access labs and leave the mode setting at "automatic".
- Click on Join and accept the certificate. It will prompt for your admin password.
- Select the wifi symbol again and choose "Open Network Preferences".
- Select Wi-Fi in the network services, click advanced, select the proxies tab and tick the "Auto Proxy Discovery"
