Connecting to the Student Wireless Internet

All registered UCC students are allowed to connect one laptop and or one hand held device to the UCC Wireless Network. To have a device connected to the wireless network please follow the steps below.

Step One - Activate your Network Access Account

All students have a Network Access Account that allows them to use the Open Access IT Centre PC's. Go to the helpdesk in the Boole basement with your ID card and have the staff there set up your account. You will be given a randomly generated password. Log in to any of the IT Centre PC's and reset this password to something memorable.

Step Two - Update your Device

Step Four- Configure and Enable the Device

Call to the Boole Basement IT Helpdesk with your laptop/device The staff there will configure and enable the device During term this may take some time as the queues are long. If you wish to speed up the process you can configure some devices your self. Once the device is configured it will still need to be enabled by the IT Helpdesk Staff

Note:

For laptops, all the major operating systems are supported: windows 7, OS X Lion etc. However not all hand-held devices will connect to the wireless network. It varies depending on the version of the operating system installed and also on the settings placed on the device by the phone or tablet provider.
