Get Your Account

Each student has their own individual password to log in to the computers in the Student IT Centres. This password will work in all the centres operated by the Computer Centre. To get your account details, please go to the Student Helpdesk in the Boole Basement. You will also need to bring your student ID card.

Logging on to the Computers

To log on to the PCs - press Ctrl-Alt-Del at the log on screen. You will then be presented with the following screen:

Your student number is the User Name, and your initial password will be given to you when you register for your account at the Student Helpdesk.

Your initial password is only temporary - you will have to change it when you first log-in.

Your new password must be at least 8 characters long, and must have a combination of at least 3 of the following:

  • Upper Case Letters (A,B,C...)
  • Lower Case Letters (a,b,c...)
  • Numbers (1,2,3...)
  • Special Characters (",$,@...)

Examples: valid passwords are: aA32$bcx or Hj2@*aka


You will not be able to re-use a password.

If you have any problems or questions, feel free to ask a staff member at the Student Helpdesk.

Logging off the Computers

It is very important that after you are finished using the computer that you log-off from your account.

To do this, you can either,

  • Press Ctrl-Alt-Del, and chose Log Out
  • Go to the start button in the bottom left hand side of the screen, and choose Log Out
