Biography
Dr. Cara Nine, PhD (Arizona), developed a philosophical interest in border issues and international justice while living in Tucson, Arizona, just 45 minutes from the US/Mexican border. Dr. Nine joined the staff at UCC in 2005 after finishing her PhD. Her move to Ireland was motivated by a desire to be closer to research and debates in the EU about international justice. Currently Dr. Nine is working on a theory of legitimate state territorial claims, and she hopes to use this theory to better understand border disputes between states. She is also developing a theory of individual responsibility for collective action. This theory is aimed at understanding and answering questions like: Am I responsible for what my country does? Her past and on-going research also includes areas in business ethics, ethics, feminism, and epistemology.
