McNeil Prize in Pharmacy Practice

McNeil Ltd have been supporting the School of Pharmacy since its opening in relation to sponsorship and prizes.  Currently it is offering an annual prize to the student with the best overall results in Clinical Pharmacy Practice based on PF3106, PF3107 and PF4006.  The value of the prize is currently €500 and a McNeil medal.  The following are the conditions of the award.

  • This prize will be called the “best Clinical Pharmacy Practice Student”.
  • It will be awarded to the student with the best overall results in the final two years of Clinical Pharmacy Practice, namely achievement in PF3106, PF3107 and PF4006.
  •  To be eligible for the prize, students must attain a pass in all Modules and no compensation is permitted in any subject.
  • Exams must be taken at the Summer Examination and the student must have taken the Examination for the first time and at the first opportunity.  Exceptionally students taking the Examination for the first time and at the first opportunity at any Supplemental Examination because of illness/injury or other mitigating circumstances will be eligible for the prize.
  • Students repeating failed modules at the Autumn Supplemental Examination will be ineligible for the prize.
  • In the event of a tie between two or more qualified students, the total amount of prize(s) will be divided equally among them.

Cloyne Pharmacy Prize for Most Improved Student

To mark the opening of the School of Pharmacy at University College Cork, Cloyne Pharmacy has offered this prize to the most improved student in the Pharmacy Degree over the four years of the course.  The value of this prize is €300.  The following are the conditions of the award.

  • It will be awarded to the student with the greatest difference in overall aggregate in the first year Modules and the overall aggregate final year Modules.
  • The Modules in first year, Introduction to Pharmaceutical Chemistry (PF1101), Biochemistry (BC1443), Anatomy/Pathophysiology (AN1074), Physiology (PL1445), Pharmacy Practice 1 (PF1007), Formulation Science (PF1008) and the final year Modules: Drug Design (PF4001), Project (PF4004), Clinical Practice II (PF4006), Advanced Pharmacology & Veterinary Pharmacology (PT4447), Novel Drug Delivery Systems (PF4008), Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (PF4009) are the basis on which these aggregates are calculated.
  • Students repeating failed modules at any Supplemental Examination in the first year will be eligible for the prize.  (Students repeating a year will be ineligible for the prize.)
  • Students taking the Examination for the first time and the first opportunity at the Autumn Supplemental Examination because of illness/injury or other mitigating circumstances will be eligible for the prize.
  • Marks will be calculated by taking the aggregate of the marks obtained in the Examination taken at first attempt (Summer or Autumn) in First Year and then compared to the aggregate of marks obtained in the Examination taken at first attempt (Summer or Autumn) in Final Year.

Actavis Student Prize for Excellence in Pharmaceutics

Actavis Ireland Ltd. are sponsoring an annual prize to the student with the best overall results in Pharmaceutics based on PF1008, PF2008, PF3008 and PF4008.  The value of the prize is currently €300.  The following are the conditions of the award.

  • This prize will be called the “Student Prize for Excellence in Pharmaceutics”.
