Biography

Dr Raymond Foley graduated with a BE degree from the National University of Ireland in 2002. In 2007 he was awarded a PhD degree for research into digital pulse-width modulation methods and applications in single and multi-phase synchronously-rectified non-isolated dc-dc converters. Between 2005 and 2008 he was a research engineer and team leader at the Power Electronics Research Laboratories, Department of Electrical Engineering, University College Cork working on silicon-based solutions for highly-integrated next-generation power supplies operating with switching frequencies up to 65 MHz as well as projects relating to the analysis of packaging technology for high-frequency integrated power converters, 'Power Supply on a Chip' integration, and the development of low-loss magnetic materials for high-frequency applications in collaboration with other Irish research groups. He is currently a lecturer of graduate and undergraduate power electronics and power systems courses at the Dept. of Electrical Engineering, UCC. He is a member of the IEEE and a regular reviewer for IEEE transactions journals.
