UCC staff H&S training comprises a blend of  e-learning and face to face contact sessions - all of which is demand led, quality assessed and delivered by experienced consultants on a value for money basis. Access by staff to centrally scheduled CORE COURSES and e-learning is available throughout the year, (gratis/ at minimal cost), subject to booking procedures which includes completion of course booking forms and conditions -  available from the H&S Office. 
Note: Due to bedgets contraints specialised courses which are very expensive and varied in nature e.g. non core coures or core courses can not be fundedex central University budgets. This is a matter for relevant Schools/Departmetns to directly fund in acordance with their legal obligations under University Safety Policy.

5 year Staff H&S training metrics

A record breaking 805 staff undertook H&S office arranged training courses in 2012.

2537 staff overall undertook H&S Office arranged h&s training courses in the 5 years ending December 2012. This reflected a modest increase on attendances for the preceeding 5 year period of 2499 staff. ( which showed a 10% increase on the 5 years to 2010.

The  Functional Area annual safety reporting system with GB oversight and two e-learning h&s courses contributed significantly  to this volume increase. In additon the staff of the Tyndall national Institute and of B&E would have undertaken job specific locally organised courses.

A total of 7121 UCC staff have attended staff h&s courses organised by the H&S Office in the period 1994 to 2012.

In this time frame the H&S offices internal QA sytem, which the University Safety Officer established long before it became a requirement for universities to set up QA systems under the Irish Universities Act, has operated to deliver a quality training product and great value for money. This has been maintained over the last number of years with the addition of two bespoke e-learning packages for staff.

The average staff QA assessment values for h&s courses for the  period 1994 - 2012 was 91%. p.a. )
