Workshop to inspire "can-do" commercial attitude in researchers
The workshop will take place at the Innovation Academy, Dublin, organised by several stakeholders, including the Tyndall National Institute at UCC and the TCD-UCD Innovation Academy.
The Tyndall-led inter-institutional graduate programmes, the International Centre for Graduate Education in micro- and nano-Engineering (ICGEE) and the Integrated Nanoscience Platform for Ireland (INSPIRE) are the catalysts behind “Enabling the Smart Economy ... Taking your Research to new Heights."
Supported by the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science at UCC, it is being held in partnership with the TCD-UCD Innovation Academy in Dublin.
This event will be of particular interest to postgraduate students (PhD and Masters level) and postdoctoral students from the science, engineering and technology sectors. The workshop aims to stimulate students’ creative and critical thinking in advancing innovative ideas emerging from their doctoral research, and to explore how such ideas can be evolved into successful enterprises for commercial, social, policy or cultural value creation.
The two-day programme promises to inspire a “can-do” attitude in researchers to consider the commercial outcomes of their work and endeavour to create a positive impact on Irish Society.
ICGEE and INSPIRE are two national consortia of third level education institutions committed to the development of structured doctoral training in Micro/Nano-engineering and Nanosciences respectively.
The training will take place on September 19–20 at the TCD-UCD Innovation Academy, 3 Foster Place, College Green, Dublin 2. The event is free to attend but registration is required.
A limited number of bursaries are available to provide financial assistance towards the cost of travel and accommodation for students travelling to Dublin for the event.
