Undergraduate Programmes
Courses in the College of SEFS include Microbiology, Genetics, Food Science (Microbiology option) and Biomedical Science. Each of these is a 4-year BSc Honours programme. The graduates progress to the workplace or opt to continue in education (postgraduate in Microbiology or a related subject, or postgraduate diplomas in other disciplines). There has been virtually full placement of graduates in the workplace over the past number of years.
The Department also teaches Microbiology to students of other programmes, for example on the Pharmacy degree, Food Business, Process Engineering, Nutritional Sciences, Chemistry, Medical and Dental Degree courses, the Nursing Degree and the BSc in Public Health and Health Promotion among others.
