Is Postgraduate research for you?
Research degrees develop a range of skills that you will draw on in the future, especially communicative, analytical, creative, and learning abilities. A research degree requires and will foster self-discipline, initiative and individual learning. Research is fundamentally about constructing knowledge and is of central importance to contemporary economies where knowledge is fast becoming a key competitive weapon. Graduates of research degrees tend to find employment in so-called ‘knowledge-intensive organisations’, including universities, consultancies, and research bodies, which are increasingly seen as the primary domains where wealth is created and captured.
As part of its commitment to undertake innovative and internationally recognised research, the Department of Management and Marketing offers three research degrees: the MSc by Research, the MComm and the PhD. These three degrees provide for research into all aspects of management and marketing and are for those interested in pursuing theoretical and empirical research in these areas.
