We, the Governing Body of University College Cork - National University of Ireland, Cork ("the University"), under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the above Act, do by this present instrument under the seal of the University make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said University.

Given under the Common Seal of the University this Twenty-First day of April, 1998.

SCHEDULE

Statute A

CHAPTER I.
Office of President (Appointment Procedures)

1. (a) The President shall be appointed by the Governing Body after consideration of a report from a Selection Committee specially appointed by the Governing Body for the purpose.
   (b) The Selection Committee shall carry out such interview and other procedures, as shall be determined by the Governing Body and which, in the opinion of the Governing Body, shall best ensure participation in the selection process by high quality candidates from both within and outside the University.
   (c) The Selection Committee shall operate in such manner as the Governing Body may direct and its acts shall be subject to confirmation by the Governing Body unless the Governing Body otherwise directs.
2. (a) On the appointment of a Selection Committee, referred to in section 1(a), the Governing Body shall also appoint a Search Committee.
   (b) The Search Committee shall carry out such procedures, including public advertisement, as shall be determined by the Governing Body and which, in the opinion of the Governing Body, shall best ensure participation in the selection process by high quality candidates from both within and outside the University.
   (c) The Search Committee shall operate in such manner as the Governing Body may direct and its acts shall be subject to confirmation by the Governing Body unless the Governing Body otherwise directs.

CHAPTER II.

1. This statute may be cited as Statute A of University College, Cork - National University of Ireland, Cork, or Stat. A. of U.C.C.
2. This Statute shall come into operation on the Twenty-First day of April, 1998.
