We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Statutes I. to LXXIX. of University College, Cork shall be read and construed with this additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.
Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in Statutes I. to LXXIX. of University College, Cork, the annual stipends of the President, of the professorships and lectureships set forth in this Chapter and of this Officers of the College shall, as from 1 June, 1968, be those hereinafter set forth.
This annual stipend of the President shall be £6,120. He shall also be entitled to residence, fuel and light valued for pension purposes at £510 per annum. In addition, he shall receive a non-pensionable allowance of £810 per annum in respect of the expenses of his office.
The annual stipend of the Registrar shall be £816. He shall also be entitled to residence, fuel and light valued for pension purposes at £510 per annum. This Governing Body may, at its discretion, pay a cash allowance equivalent to this pensionable value of this perquisite.
The annual stipend of the Associate Professorship of Irish Language and Literature (Modern Irish Literature) shall be £3,030 increasing by annual increments of £130 to a maximum of £3,680.

(i) The annual stipend of each of the full-time professorships set out in this sub-section shall be £3,230 increasing by annual increments of £130 to a maximum of £3,880:

The foregoing amendment shall be decreed to have been operative as from 1 June, 1968.
There shall be established in the College in the event of its institution by this National University of Ireland, a professorship in the department of Chemistry to be known as this Professorship of Inorganic Chemistry.
The said professorship shall be a full-time office within this meaning of this statutes of this College and of this University. This stipend of the professorship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I., section 5 (a) (ii) of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1. by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of this professor shall be to lecture in Chemistry, including Inorganic Chemistry, under the general direction of this Professor of Chemistry for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of this College. He shall also examine in Chemistry, including Inorganic Chemistry, for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Chemistry.
The said professorship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a professorship in the department of Chemistry to be known as the Professorship of Physical Chemistry.
The said professorship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the professorship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I., section 5 (a) (ii) of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the professor shall be to lecture in Chemistry, including Physical Chemistry, under the general direction of the Professor of Chemistry for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Chemistry, including Physical Chemistry, for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Chemistry.
The said professorship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Medicine.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The term "full-time" in this case shall not be interpreted as precluding the holder of the lectureship from holding and receiving a stipend wholly in respect of a full-time appointment of the kind specified in section 6 of this Chapter. He shall, however, be precluded from engaging in private practice or consultations in any form or retaining any fees which may be received by him in connection with his work.
The stipend of this lectureship shall be this same as that provided in Chapter I., section 6 (b) of this Statute. This provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV. as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and this Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Medicine under the direction of the Professor of Medicine for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Medicine for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Medicine.
The said lectureship shall be tenable only by a member of the medical staff of the teaching hospital recognised by the College and the University in which the Professor of Medicine has, as of right, the control of an adequate teaching or professional unit of beds, both male and female, and is the medical practitioner in charge and where the holder of the lectureship has been appointed to assist him.
The lectureship in Medicine established by Statute LXXI., Chapter II., shall automatically be abolished on the occurrence of the first vacancy therein.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Surgery.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of this statutes of the College and of the University. The term "full-time" in this case shall not be interpreted as precluding the holder of this lectureship from holding and receiving a stipend wholly in respect of a full-time appointment of this kind specified in section 6 of this Chapter. He shall, however be precluded from engaging in private practice or consultations in any form or retaining any fees which may be received by him in connection with his work.

He shall also examine in Surgery for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Surgery.

This provisions of Statute LXXII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1., of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Archaeology under the direction of the Professor of Archaeology for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Archaeology for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Archaeology.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provision of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Biochemistry, No. 2.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I., section 6 (a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXXII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
This duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Biochemistry under this direction of the Professor of Biochemistry for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Biochemistry for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Biochemistry.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Botany, No. 2.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter 1., section 6(a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVIII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Botany under the direction of the Professor of Botany for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Botany for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Botany.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Chemistry, No. 3.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I., section 6 (a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX.. Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Chemistry under the direction of the Professor of Chemistry for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Chemistry for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Chemistry.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Experimental Physics No. 3.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I., section 6 (a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1. and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Experimental Physics under the direction of the Professor of Experimental Physics for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Experimental Physics for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Experimental Physics.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Geography.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the in meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I., section 6 (a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXXII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section I., and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Geography under the direction of the Professor of Geography for all degrees.. diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Geography for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Geography.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX., and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in German.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter 1., section 6(a) (1), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in German under the direction of the Professor of German for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in German for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of German.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Mathematical Physics, No. 3.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter 1., section 6 (a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Mathematical Physics under the direction of the Professor of Mathematical Physics for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Mathematical Physics for the College, and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Mathematical Physics.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Modern History, No. 2.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter 1., section 6 (a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Modern History, including Economic and Social History, under the direction of the Professor of Modern History for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Modern History, including Economic and Social History, for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Modern History.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Music.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I., section 6 (a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII.. Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by chapter III., section 1, of this statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Music including Irish Music, under the direction of the Professor of Music for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Music, including Irish Music, for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Music.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Philosophy.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in chapter I., section 6 (a) (i), of this statute The provisions of Statute LXVII., chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Philosophy under the direction of the Professor of Philosophy for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Philosophy for the College and, if requires by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Philosophy.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pensions Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Physiology, No. 2.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I., sections 6 (a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., chapter IV., section 1, and by chapter III., sections 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Physiology under the direction of the Professor of Physiology for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Physiology for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Physiology.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Social Administration.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter sections 6 (a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., sections 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., sections 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Social Administration for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College, He shall also examine in Social Administration for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Spanish.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Spanish under the direction of the Professor of Spanish for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Spanish for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Spanish.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed hereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Statistics.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I.. section 6 (a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Statistics under the direction of the Professor of Statistics for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Statistics for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Statistics.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Zoology, No. 2.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I., section 6 (a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by chapter III., section 1, of this Statute shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Zoology under the direction of the Professor of Zoology for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Zoology for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Zoology.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Professorship of Dairy and Food Chemistry.
The said professorship shall be a full-time Office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the professorship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I., section 5 (a) (ii), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., chapter IX., as amended by Statute LXX., chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the professor shall be to lecture in Dairy and Food Chemistry for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Dairy and Food Chemistry for the College and if required by the Senate to do so, for the University.
The said professorship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
The Professorship of Dairy Chemistry established by Statute XXXVIII., Chapter I., is hereby abolished and in consequence thereof all references in that and subsequent statutes to the Professor, Professorship and Department of Dairy Chemistry shall henceforth be deemed to be references to the Professor, Professorship and Department of Dairy and Food Chemistry.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Professorship of Dairy and Food Technology.
The said professorship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the professorship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I., section 5 (a) (ii), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
(a) The duties of the professor shall be to lecture in Dairy and Food Technology for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Dairy and Food Technology for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University.
(b) The holder of the professorship shall be Director of all College Creameries and Cream Separating Stations and he shall be Manager thereof for the purposes of all Acts of the Oireachtas governing the operation of creameries.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Dairy and Food Chemistry.
The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I., section 6 (a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.

The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter I., section 6 (a) (i), of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXX., Chapter III., section 1, by Statute LXXIII., Chapter IV., section 1, and by Chapter III., section 1, of this Statute, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Dairy and Food Microbiology under the direction of the Professor of Dairy and Food Microbiology for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Dairy and Food Microbiology for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Dairy and Food Microbiology.
The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
(a) Statute LXIII., Chapter IV., establishing the Professorship of Medicine, as already amended, is hereby further amended by the deletion of the following words from section 2: "In calculating the pension of this office, the provisions of Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., section 6(b), in respect of seven added years shall not apply."
(b) This amendment shall be deemed to have been operative as from the date of coming into operation of said Statue LXIII.
(a) Statute LXXII., Chapter I., establishing the Professorship of Pathology, as already amended, is hereby further amended by the deletion of the following words from section 2: "In calculating the pension of this office the provisions of Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., section 6(b), in respect of seven added years shall not apply."
(b) This amendment shall be deemed to have been operative as from the date of coming into operation of said Statute LXXII.
(a) Statute LXXIII., Chapter VIII., establishing the Professor- ship of Surgery, is hereby amended by the deletion of the following words from section 3: " In calculating the pension of this office the provisions of Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., section 6(b), in respect of seven added years shall not apply."
(b) This amendment shall be deemed to have been operative as from the date of coming into operation of said Statute LXXIII.
(a) Statute LXXV., Chapter I., establishing the Lectureship in Pathology, No. 2, is hereby amended by the deletion of the following words from section 4: " In calculating the pension of this office the provisions of Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., section 6(b), in respect of seven added years shall not apply."
(b) This amendment shall be deemed to have been operative as from the date of coming into operation of said Statute LXXV.
(a) Statute LXXIX., Chapter 1., is hereby amended by the deletion of paragraph (c) from section 8.
(b) This amendment shall be deemed to have been operative as from the date of coming into operation of said Statute LXXIX.
Statute XLVI., Chapter I., section 2, is hereby amended by the deletion therefrom of the words "and so far as may be required by the Academic Council to do so through Irish."
Statute XXXVIII. (which established inter alia the Professorship of Dairy Technology) is, with the consent of the present holder of the office, hereby amended by the substitution of the title " Research Professorship of Dairy Technology " for the title "Professorship of Dairy Technology " in Chapter I., section 1, thereof, and section 2(b) of Chapter II. of this Statute shall be read and construed accordingly.
Notwithstanding the provisions of Statute XXXVIII., chapter I., section 4, the duties of the holder of the Research Professorship of Dairy Technology shall, with the consent of the present holder of the office be confined to pursuing research in the subject of the professorship, to the intent that in shall not be entitled to exercise any of the rights conferred on or exercisable by a professor under the provisions of
(i) Statute I., Chapter XV., section 1 (paragraphs (b) and (c)) and section 5, and
(ii) Statute LV., Chapter XIV., section 1,
and the said statutes shall, in relation to the Research Professorship of Dairy Technology, be read and construed accordingly.
The said research professorship shall be deemed to be extinguished when the present holder ceases by resignation or otherwise to hold office.
The provisions of Statute I., Chapter IV., section 21, shall be deemed to be complied with if the President resides in a residence provided by the College for occupancy by him in the City of Cork or within its immediate environs.
The foregoing provision shall be deemed to have been operative as and from 1 September, 1967.
Statute XXVII., Chapter II., as already amended, is hereby further amended as follows:
(a) By the addition of the subject Social Administration to the Faculties of Arts and Commerce;
(b) By the addition of the subject Inorganic Chemistry to the Faculty of Science;
(c) By the addition of the subjects Dairy and Food Chemistry and Dairy and Food Technology to the Faculty of Dairy Science.
The professorships and lectureships established by this Statute shall, subject to the provisions of chapter VI. and VII. in respect of the lectureships established by those Chapters and to the provisions of Chapter XXX. in respect of the research professorship therein mentioned, be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions and the holders thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said professorships and lectureship had been included in Statutes I. to LXXIX. of University College, Cork.
This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I. to LXXIX. of University College, Cork and may be cited as Statute LXXX. of University College, Cork or Stat. LXXX. of Univ. Coll. Cork.
This Statute shall come into operation on the twenty-fifth day of March, 1969.
