We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Statutes I. to LXVI. of University College, Cork shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.
Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in Statutes I. to LXVI. of University College, Cork the annual stipends of the President, of the Professorships and Lectureships hereinafter mentioned, and of the Officers of the College shall be those set forth in this Statute.
Notwithstanding any other provisions of the Statutes to the contrary; the holders of part-time offices whose annual stipend is £150 or less may be paid half-yearly at the end of June and December each year.
The provisions of Statute LVIII., Chapter I., sections 5, 6 and 7, shall continue to apply to the full-time statutory offices set forth in this Statute to which incremental salary scales are applicable, and to each full-time Professorship and Lectureship henceforth established.
The annual stipend of the President shall be £3,580 as from 1 January, 1962, and £3,660 as from 1 January, 1963. He shall also be entitled to residence, fuel and light valued for pension purposes at £405 per annum as from 1 January, 1962, and at £415 per annum as from 1 January, 1963. In addition, the President shall receive a non-pensionable allowances in respect of the expenses of his office, the annual amount of such allowance to be £560 as from 1 January, 1962, and £575 as from 1 January, 1963.
The annual stipend of the Registrar shall be £486 as from 1 January, 1962, and £500 as from 1 January, 1963. He shall also be entitled to residence, fuel and light valued for pension purposes at £405 per annum as from 1 January, 1962, and at £415 per annum as from 1 January, 1963. The Governing Body may, at its discretion, pay a cash allowance equivalent to the pensionable value of this perquisite, and Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., as already amended, is hereby further amended accordingly.
(a) The annual stipend of each of the full-time Professorships set out hereunder shall, as from 1 January, 1962, be £2,030 increasing by annual increments of £80 to a maximum of £2,430, and shall, as from 1 January, 1968, be £2,050 increasing by annual increments of £90 to a maximum of £2,500:

(b) The annual stipend of each of the present holders of the full-time Professorships set out hereunder shall, as from 1 January, 1962, be £2,530, and shall, as from 1 January, 1963, be £2,600.

Provided that on the occurrence of the first vacancy in each of the foregoing offices the stipend of such office shall thenceforth be the same as that of the Professorships set forth in sub-section (a) of this section.
(c) The Annual stipend of the Associate Professorship of Civil Engineering, the holder of which shall also act as Engineer to the College, shall be the same as that set forth in sub-section (a) of this section.
(d) The annual stipend of the full-time Professorship of Archaeology shall, as from 1 January, 1962, be £1,880 increasing by annual increments of £30 to a maximum of £2,280, and shall, as from 1 January, 1963, be £1,900 increasing by annual increments of £90 to a maximum of £2,350.
(e) The annual stipend of the full-time Professorship of Medicine shall, as from 1 January, 1962, be £1,690, and shall, as from 1 January, 1963, be £1,725.
(f) The annual stipend of the present holder of the full-time Professorship of German shall, as from 1 January, 1962, be £2 100.
The annual stipend of each of the full-time Lectureships set out hereunder shall, as from 1 January, 1962, be £1,404 increasing by annual increments of £60 to a maximum of £1,824, and shall, as from 1 January. 1963, be £1,455 increasing by annual increments of £60 to a maximum of £1,875:

(a) The annual stipend of the Secretary and Bursar shall be the same as that provided in section 3 (a) hereof:
(b) The annual stipend of the Librarian shall be the same as that provided in section 4 hereof.
(c) The annual stipend of the Assistant Secretary shall, as from 1 January, 1962, be £1,615, and shall, as from 1 January, 1963, be £1,655.

(b) The annual stipend of the present holder of the full-time Professorship of Agriculture shall be the same as that provided in Chapter II., section 3(b), of this Statute. In addition, he shall continue to be paid the annual stipend of £120 in respect of his services as Director of the College Farms.
Provided that on the occurrence of the first vacancy in the office the inclusive annual stipend of the Professorship and Directorship shall thenceforth be the same as that of the Professorships set forth in sub-section (a) of this section.
The annual stipend of each of the full-time Lectureships set out hereunder shall be the same as that provided in Chapter 11., section 4, of this Statute:

Statute LVIII., Chapter III,. sections 2, 3 and 4, is hereby revoked as from 31 December, 1961.
There shall be paid as from 1 January, 1962, to the holders of the full-time statutory offices referred to in Statute LXIII., Chapters I. and II. as well as to the holders of such full-time statutory offices since established to which children's allowances have been made applicable, a non-pensionable allowance of £50 per annum in respect of each of his/her children from the date of birth up to the age each such child ceases to attend continuously a teaching institution of less than university rank or until the completion of the eighteenth year of age, whichever shall first occur.
In the event of the death while in office of a person in receipt of children's allowances in accordance with the foregoing section, such allowances shall thereupon be payable to the surviving parent or guardian of the children of such person in accordance with the provisions of the said section.
Where the date on which a child allowance falls due or ceases in accordance with the foregoing provisions is a day in the month other than the first such allowance shall, for administrative convenience, be deemed to fall due or cease, as the case may be, on the first day of the month in which it falls due or ceases.
Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in previous Statutes, the following increased annual pensions of former holders of full-time statutory offices in the College shall be deemed to have become operative as from 1 July, 1962:

Statute LI., Chapter IX., as already amended, is hereby further amended by the substitution of the figure "£400" for the figure "£350" therein.
Statute LVI., Chapter VI., section 1, is hereby amended by the substitution of the figure "£120" for the figure "£100" therein.
In addition to the sums provided in Statute XLVII., Chapter II., section 1(d), and in Statute LIX., Chapter IV., section 4, the sums hereinafter set forth shall be paid by the persons stated into the appropriate College Pension Fund, and such sums shall be due and payable together with and on the same date as the sums for which each of such persons is or shall be liable as a condition of his participation in the Scheme for Payments to Widows, that is to say:
(a) In the case of the President, full-time
Professors and the
Secretary and Bursar - - - £3 per annum
(b) In the case of all others qualified for
participation in the
scheme - - - £2 per annum
Notwithstanding the provisions of Statute XLVII., Chapter II., section 1, an increase of twelve and a half per cent. in payments at present being made to widows under the Scheme for Payments to Widows is hereby authorised.
The provisions of this Chapter shall be deemed to have been operative as and from 1 July, 1962.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Hygiene.
The said Lectureship shall be a part-time non-pensionable office. The stipend of such part-time Lectureship shall be £115 per annum.
The duties of the Lecturer shall be to lecture in Hygiene for all Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates of the University and for all Diplomas and Certificates of the College. He shall in addition examine in Hygiene for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University.
The Professorship of Hygiene and Public Health established by Statute XXII., Chapter II., section 2, is hereby abolished.
There shall be established in the College in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Social Medicine.
The said Lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the Statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the Lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Chapter II., section 4, of this Statute. The provisions of Chapter IV of this Statute shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the Lecturer shall be to lecture in Social Medicine for all Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates of the University and for all Diplomas and Certificates of the College. He shall in addition examine in Social Medicine for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University.
The said Lectureship shall be a pensionable office and Table A of the additional Pension Scheme annexed to Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., as already amended, is hereby further amended by the addition of the said office thereto.
The Research Professorship of Modern Irish established by Statute XLV. of University College, Cork is hereby abolished.
The Lectureship known as "The Cork Corporation Lectureship of Irish Music" established by Statute XVII. of University College Cork is hereby abolished and shall cease to exist as and from 1 October, 1963.
The Lectureship in Dairy Accounting and Dairy Economics established by Statute LXVI., Chapter III., shall henceforth be known as the Lectureship in Dairy Economics and Statute LXVI., Chapter III., is hereby amended accordingly.
The Lectureships established by this Statute shall be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions and the holders thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said Lectureships had been included in Statutes I. to LXVI. of University College, Cork.
Statute XXVII., Chapter II., as already amended, is hereby further amended by the addition of the subject Social Medicine to the Faculty of Medicine, and by the deletion of the subject Geography from the Faculty of Science, of the subject Dairy Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, of the subject Irish Music from the Faculty of Arts and of the subject Modern Irish History from the Faculties of Arts and Celtic Studies.
This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I. to LXVI. of University College, Cork, and may be cited as Statute LXVII. of University College, Cork, or Stat. LXVII. of Univ. Coll. Cork.
This Statute shall come into operation on the twentieth day of June, 1963.
