Statute XLIV.
Irish Universities Act, 1908
University College, Cork
We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under
and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by
the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal
of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in
the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said
College.
Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this thirty-first day of October, 1945.
Present when the Common Seal of University College, Cork,
was affixed:

Statute XLIV.
Schedule
- Statute XXXIX., Chapter I. shall be amended by the
deletion from Section 2, paragraph (b), of the sub-paragraph
commencing with the words "Provided that " and ending
with the words " to the contrary ", and of the whole of
Section 2, paragraph (d). This amendment shall be deemed
to have effect as from the first day of October, 1944.
- Section 2 of the Additional Pension Scheme annexed
to Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., shall be amended by the
deletion therefrom of the words " Any Office so made pension-
able shall be specified in Table B to be prepared and annexed
to the scheme ."
- Table A of the Additional Pension Scheme annexed
to Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., shall be amended by the
addition thereto of the following offices:
- The Professorship of Physiology,
- The Lectureship in Geography and Geology,
- The Professorship of Celtic Languages and Philology,
- The Professorship of Bio-Chemistry;
and by the deletion therefrom of the following offices:
- The Professorship of Geology and Geography,
- The Lectureship in Applied Chemistry,
- The Lectureship in Celtic Languages.
- Statute XXXIX., Chapter II., Section 3, shall be
amended in so far as it provided for an annual sum of Three
Thousand One Hundred Pounds (£3,100) for Pension Fund
No. 2. The sums to be provided for the said Fund as from
the First day of October, 1944, shall be as follows :-
- (a) An annual sum equivalent to 12% of the stipends
payable to persons holding, on the thirtieth day of
June, 1944, the offices set forth in Table A of the
Additional Pension Scheme annexed to Chapter II.
- (b) An annual sum equivalent to 15% of the stipend
payable to any person who shall, after the thirtieth
day of June, 1944, be appointed to any of the offices
set forth in Table A of the Additional Pension
Scheme annexed to Chapter II. or payable to any
person who shall after that date, be appointed
to any other office which the Governing Body
shall declare to be a pensionable office.
- Section 8 of the Additional Pension Scheme annexed to
Statute XXXIX. Chapter II., shall be amended by the
following addition thereto:
These ten years shall be in addition to the seven years
granted in the preceding Section 7.
- The first paragraph of Statute XXXIX., Chapter IV.,
Section 9 shall be amended to read as follows ;
On the resignation owing to marriage of any full-time
woman Assistant or full-time woman Clerk a gratuity at
the rate of one month's salary for each complete year of
such full-time continuous service, but not exceeding on
the whole a maximum of twelve months' salary, may be
granted at the absolute discretion of the Governing Body.
This amendment shall be deemed to have come into operation
and effect as from the first day of June, 1940.
- This Statute shall be construed with and as part of
Statutes I. to XLIII. of University College, Cork, and may
be cited as Statute XLIV. of University College, Cork, or
Stat. XLIV. of Univ. Coll., Cork.
- This Statute shall come into operation on the thirty-first day of October, 1945.
Present when the Common Seal of University College, Cork,
was affixed.
