Whereas His Late Majesty King Edward the Seventh was graciously pleased, in pursuance of the provisions of the Irish Universities' Act, 1908, to constitute and found a new University having its seat in Dublin, and to direct that the said University should bear the name of the National University of Ireland.
And Whereas by sub-section (3) of section 2 of the said Act, Queen's College, Cork, the name of which his said late Majesty was graciously pleased, in pursuance of the said sub-section, to alter to University College Cork, is a constituent College of the said University.
And Whereas by sections 4 of the said Act the Statute for the general government of the constituent Colleges of the said University were directed to be made in the first instance by the Dublin Commissioners appointed under the said Act, and after the powers of the said Dublin Commissioners determined, by the governing bodies of the said constituent Colleges.
And Whereas the said Dublin Commissioners under and by virtue of the powers conferred upon them by the said Act, duly made a Statute for University College, Cork (to be cited as Statute I. of University College Cork) givers under their Common Seal, bearing date the 15th day of April, 1911.
And Whereas the powers of the said Dublin Commissioners determined on the 31st day of July, 1911.
And Whereas We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, did on the 25th day of March, 1927, by resolution, provisionally adopt the Statute (to be cited as Statute XXI. of University College Cork) set out in the Schedule hereof.
And Whereas a copy of said Statute was communicated on the 29th day of March, 1927, to the Academic Council of the said College.
And Whereas We, the said Governing Body have considered any representations on the subject of said proposed Statute, made to us by the said Academic Council, within two months from the said 29th day of March, 1927, and have by a resolution adopted at our Meeting held this 3rd day of June, 1927, by a majority of the Members of the said Governing Body now holding office, confirm the resolutions to make the said Statute with certain amendments.
And Whereas a copy of the said Statute has, at least seven days before the said 3rd day of June, 1927, been sent to each Member of the Governing Body, to the Registrar of the National University of Ireland, and also to the Secretary of University College, Dublin, and to the Secretary of University College, Galway.
Now We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Statute I. of University College, Cork, and all subsequent Statutes hitherto made, shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments as are hereinafter set forth.
Section 27. Chapter VI. of Statute I., is hereby revoked and there shall be substituted the following Section:-
27. The Voting Paper of a Graduate shall be initialled by the voter and be signed by him:
(a) If with in Saorstát Éireann, before a Minister of Religion a member of the Medical or Legal Professions, a University Graduate, a Peace Commissioner or a Commissioner of Affidavits.
(b)If within Great Britain or Northern Ireland, before a Minister of Religion, a member of the Medical or Legal Professions, a University Graduate, a Justice of the Peace or a Commissioner of Affidavits.
(c) If in any other place, before a Minister of Religion, a member of the Medical or Legal Professions, a University Graduate, or any person authorised to administer Oaths.
Such witness shall attest the fact of the Voting Paper having been initialled and signed by the Voter in his presence, by signing his name at the foot thereof, adding his official designation and place of residence; and he shall in all cases certify in writing on the voting paper that he personally knows either the voter or some person who has certified to him in writing on the voting paper his personal knowledge of the voter.
There shall be in the College (in the event of such Professorship being instituted within the College by the Senate of the National University of Ireland) in addition to the Professorships mentioned in Statutes I. to XX., a Professorship of Accountancy and Business Administration.
The said Professorship shall not be deemed to be a Full-time Professorship within the meaning of Chapter XVI. of Statute I.
The said Professorship in Accountancy and Business Administration shall be tenable upon the same conditions and the holder thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said Professorship had been instituted by Chapter XIII. of Statute I.
The stipend of the said Professorship shall be £200 per annum.
Section I., of Chapter XIII. of Stature I. is hereby revoked to the extent that the Professorship of the Law of Contracts of Personal Property and of Torts, is hereby extinguished, and that the names and titles of the Professorship of Jurisprudence and of the Professorship of the Law of Real Property and of Equity shall be altered to:
Professorship of Jurisprudence, Roman Law and Personal Property, and
Professorship of Common Law, Real Property and Equity,
the holders of
the said Professorships having agreed, in writing, to the said change.
The holders thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said Professorships had been so named in Chapter XIII. of Statute I.
Section 3 of Statute II. of University College, Cork, is hereby revoked to the extent that the Professorship of Ophthalmology, the Professorship of Hygiene, and the Professorship of Therapeutics shall cease to exist as from First day of June, 1927.
There shall be in the College in addition to the Lectureships mentioned in Statutes I. to XX. of University College, Cork, a Lectureship in Ophthalmology with the Stipend of Seventy Five Pounds per annum, a Lectureship in Hygiene and Public Health with the Stipend of Seventy Five Pounds per annum, and a Lectureship in Therapeutics with a Stipend of One Hundred Pounds per annum.
The said Lectureships shall not be deemed to be Full-time Lectureship within the meaning of Chapter XVI., Statute I. of University College, Cork.
The said Lectureships shall be tenable upon the same conditions and the holders thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said Lectureships had been instituted by Chapter XIII. of Statute I., University College, Cork.
Notwithstanding anything contained in Statute I. to XX. of University College, Cork, the following shall be the stipends for the said Officers, Professors and Lecturers as from 1st October, 1926.
The President
The Stipend of the President shall be Sixteen Hundred Pounds a year, and he shall, in addition, be entitled to residence, fuel and light.
Provided that if any Professorship or Lectureship shall be held by the President, no remuneration shall attach to such Professorship or Lectureship while so held.
The Stipends of the Professorships and Lectureships shall be as set out in the following List:-

Provided (a) That the Lecturer in Hygiene and Public Health shall receive in addition to the Salary set down for his Office a sum to be paid by the College equivalent to the fees paid by students for the Course in Public Health for the Diploma in Public Health.
(b) That the Cork Corporation Lectureship in Irish Music shall exist only so long as the annual sum of One Hundred Pounds is placed at the disposal of the College by the Council of the County Borough of Cork.
(c) That the Lecturer in Architecture shall receive a sum to be paid by the College equivalent to the fees paid by Students for their several Courses, but shall receive no further sum for examining University Students.
Provided that it shall be lawful for the Governing body, in the event of the remuneration thus provided appearing to be inadequate to supplement the fees by such sum as may seem desirable to them.
(d) Provided that during the tenure of office of the present Professor of Materia Medica there shall be a Professorship of Materia Medica and the Lectureship in Therapeutics and the Lectureship in Materia Medica shall remain in abeyence. On the occurrence of the first vacancy in the Professorship of Materia Medica there shall be no longer a Professorship of Materia Medica but there shall be a Lectureship in Therapeutics and a Lectureship in Materia Medica.
(e) That the holder of a Professorship or Lectureship to the title of which an asterisk is prefixed shall be deemed to he a full-time Professor or Lecturer within the meaning of this Statute.
Sections 2, 3 and 4 of Chapter XVI., Statute I., shall apply to the payment of the above salaries.
The Register shall receive a Stipend of £175 a year and shall in addition, be entitled to residence, fuel and light.
The Secretary and Bursar shall receive a Stipend of £800 per annum Section 11 of Chapter XX., Statute I., is hereby revoked as far as it refers to the Secretary.
The Stipends attached to the Offices of the President and of the Professors and Lecturers and the Salaries of the Officers, shall be paid monthly (on such days as the Governing Body shall from time to time appoint) out of the income of the College granted by the Oireachtas and shall be charged thereon.
In addition to the Bonus of 33 per cent. authorised by Statute XIII., the Governing Body hereby sanctions, ratifies and confirms the additional Bonuses on the Statutory Salaries heretofore paid to the Officers, Professors and Lecturers of the College out of the additional grant made by the Government.
This Statute shall come into operation on the Fourth day of June, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Twenty-seven.
This Statute shall be construed with and as part of said Statutes I. to XX. of University College, Cork, and may be cited as Statute XXI. of University College, Cork, or Stat. XXI., Univ. Coll., Cork.
