Statute II.

Irish Universities Act, 1908.

UNIVERSITY COLLEGE, CORK.

WE, the Dublin Commissioners appointed under the Irish Universities Act, 1908, to make Statutes for the general government of the University which has since been incorporated under the name of the National University of Ireland and the Constituent Colleges thereof; having taken into consideration as respects the Statutes for University College, Cork, being one of the said Constituent Colleges, the representations made to us by the Governing Body of the said College, Under and by virtue of the powers in this behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under our Seal, make the Statute hereunto annexed for University College, Cork.

Given under our Common Seal at Dublin, this seventh day of July, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Eleven.

Statute II.

Chapter I

  1. Subject to the rights of the present holders of the Lectureships hereinafter mentioned, the following Lectureships shall, on the coming into operation of this Statute, be extinguished, viz.:-

    The Lectureship in German,
    *The Lectureship in Methods of Education,
    The Lectureship in Music,
    The Lectureship in Philosophy,
    *The Lectureship in Mathematical Physics,
    The Lectureship in Hygiene,
    The Lectureship in Medical Jurisprudence,
    The Lectureship in Ophthalmology.
  2. There shall be in the College, in addition to the Professorships and Lectureships mentioned in Chapter XIII, of Statute I. of University College, Cork, the following Professorships with the Stipends hereinafter set opposite to the same, respectively :-

    The Professorship of German£150 per annum
    *The Professorship of Methods of Education£150 per annum
    The Professorship of Music£150 per annum
    The Professorship of Philosophy£150 per annum
    *The Professorship of Mathematical Physics£250 per annum
    The Professorship of Hygiene£50 per annum
    The Professorship of Medical Jurisprudence £50 per annum
    The Professorship of Ophthalmology£50 per annum

  3. No appointment shall be made to fill any of the Professorships hereby instituted until the present holder of the corresponding Lectureship shall have ceased, by resignation or otherwise, to hold such Lectureship.

  4. In the event of the present holder of any of the Lectureships aforesaid, signifying in writing, before the 15th day of July, 1911, to the Secretary of the Dublin Commissioners, his willingness to accept the Professorship corresponding to the Lectureship which he at present holds, he shall thereupon become the holder of such Professorship, and the Lectureship which he at present holds shall be thenceforward extinguished.

  5. The Professorships hereby instituted shall be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions, and the holders thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations, as if the said Professorships had been instituted by the said Chapter XIII. of the said Statute;

    PROVIDED that the holders of the said Professorships shall be subject to the provisions contained in Statute 1. of the National University of Ireland.

  6. This Statute shall be construed with, and as part of; the said Statute I. of University College, Cork, and may be referred to as Statute II. of University College, Cork.

  7. This Statute shall come into operation on the seventh day of July, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Eleven.
