University College Cork

WE, THE GOVERNING BODY OF UNIVERSITY COLLEGE, CORK, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the above Act, do by this present instrument under the seal of University College, Cork make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Statute 173

Schedule

Statutes 1 to 172 of University College , Cork shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments herinafter set forth.

CHAPTER I.
Professorship of Pathology

  1. The provisions of this Chapter shall henceforth apply to the Professorship of Pathology. established by Statute 72, Chapter I., as amended.
  2. Commencing with the next appointment to the Professorship of Pathology the said Professor shall be Head of the Department of Pathology for a period of at least five years. In the event of the Governing Body determining, by the making of a Statute or Regulation or otherwise, that new arrangements shall apply to the appointment of the Head of the Department of Pathology, the holder of said Professorship shall thenceforth have the obligation of acting as Head of the Department of Pathology for such period or periods as the Governing Body may decide.
  3. The duties of the Professor shall be to lecture in Pathology for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. In the event of a revised arrangement in regard to the appointment of a Head of Department referred to in section 2 applying, the Professor shall carry out the lecturing duties under the general direction of the Head of the Department of Pathology. The Professor shall also examine in Pathology for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University.
  4. The stipend of the next holder of the Professorship of Pathology shall be the same as that provided in Statute 171, Chapter I., section 3(d).

CHAPTER II.
Department of Law

Statute 147, Chapter IV., section 3, is hereby amended by the insertion of the words ".....or in the event of failure of agreement in the final sentence after the words "Subject to the foregoing . . . . ." .

CHAPTER III.
Lectureship in Public Administration

  1. The provisions of this Chapter shall henceforth apply to the Lectureship in Public Administration established by Statute 65, Chapter VI., as amended.
  2. The said Lectureship shall continue to be in the Department of Public Administration and shall become a full-time office provided that, in the event of the Governing Body deciding to alter the arrangements relating to the subject Public Administration, the Lectureship may be, if so determined by the Governing Body. transferred to another department or located in a new department. The stipend of the Lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Statute 171. Chapter I., section 5(a).
  3. The duties of the Lecturer shall be to lecture in Public Administration for all degrees., diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. In the event of the establishment of a Professorship of Public Administration or in the event of the transfer referred to in section 2 taking place. the Lecturer shall carry out the foregoing duties under the direction of the Head of the Department in which the Lectureship is located. The Lecturer shall also examine in Public Administration for the College and., if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He/she shall. in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him/her by the Head of Department.
  4. The holder of the Lectureship shall, if so appointed by the Governing Body, act as Head of the Department of Public Administration for such period or periods as the Governing Body may decide or until the appointment shall have been terminated by the Governing Body.
  5. The said Lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute 79, as amended., and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto, as amended, shall apply.

CHAPTER IV

  1. This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I to 172 of University College. Cork and may be cited as Statute 173 of University College., Cork or Stat. 173 of Univ. Coll. Cork.
  2. This Statute will come into operation on the Fifth day of March, 1996.
