Statute 159.

Irish Universities Act, 1908

University College, Cork

We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this twenty-first day of January, 1992.

Statute 159.

Schedule

Statutes 1 to 158 of University College, Cork shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.

CHAPTER I.
Professorship of Software Engineering

  1. There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Professorship of Software Engineering.
  2. The said Professorship shall be in the Department of Computer Science and shall be a full-time office within the meanings of the Statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the said Professorship shall be the same as that provided in Statute 132, Chapter I., section 4(a), as amended.
  3. The duties of the Professor shall be to lecture in Computer Science, including Software Engineering, under the general direction of the Head of the Department of Computer Science, for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. The Professor shall also examine in Computer Science, including Software Engineering for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University.
  4. The said Professorship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute 79, as amended, and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto, as amended, shall apply.

CHAPTER II.
Professorship of Computer Science No. 2

The Professorship of Computer Science No. 2, established by Statute 143., Chapter II., is hereby abolished.

CHAPTER III.
Lectureship in Electrical Engineering No. 6

  1. There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Electrical Engineering No. 6.
  2. The said Lectureship shall be in the Department of Electrical Engineering & Microelectronics and shall be a full-time office within the meanings of the Statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the said Lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Statute 132, Chapter I., section 7(a) as amended.
  3. The duties of the Lecturer shall be to lecture in Electrical Engineering under the direction of the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering & Microelectronics, for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. The said Lecturer shall also examine in Electrical Engineering for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He/she shall, in addition discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him/her by the said Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering & Microelectronics.
  4. The said Lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute 79, as amended, and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto, as amended, shall apply.

CHAPTER IV.
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering shall henceforth be known as the "Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering".

CHAPTER V.
Lectureship in Civil Engineering No. 5

  1. There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Civil Engineering No. 5.
  2. The said Lectureship shall be in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and shall be a full-time office within the meanings of the Statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the said Lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Statute 132, Chapter I., section 7(a) as amended.
  3. The duties of the Lecturer shall be to lecture in Civil Engineering, including Environmental Engineering, under the direction of the Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. The said Lecturer shall also examine in Civil Engineering, including Environmental Engineering for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He/she shall, in addition discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him/her by the said Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
  4. The said Lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute 79, as amended, and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto, as amended, shall apply.

CHAPTER VI.

The Professorship and Lectureships hereby established shall be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions and the holders thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said Professorship and Lectureships had been included in Statute 1 to 158 of University College, Cork.

CHAPTER VII.

  1. This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes 1 to 158 of University College, Cork and may be cited as Statute 159 of University College, Cork or Stat. 159 of Univ. Coll. Cork.
  2. This Statute will come into operation on the twenty-first day of January, 1992.
