Statute CXIII.
Irish Universities Act, 1908
University College, Cork
We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under
and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by
the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal
of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in
the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said
College.
Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this twenty-eighth day of April, 1977.

Statute CXIII.
Schedule
Statutes I. to CXII. of University College, Cork shall be read and
construed with the additions, modifications and amendments herein-
after set forth.
CHAPTER I.
Office of the Vice President
Statute CX., Chapter I., section 3, shall be replaced by the following:
"3. The office shall be a part-time non-pensionable office tenable
only by a professor of the College; he may be appointed for a
period not exceeding one year. He shall be eligible for re-appointment for a further period or periods not exceeding one year;
however, upon the expiry of successive periods of appointment
totalling three consecutive years, he shall not be eligible for re-
appointment as Vice President until a further period of at least
one year shall have elapsed".
CHAPTER II.
Professorship of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- There shall be established in the College, in the event of its
institution by the National University of Ireland, a Professorship of
Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- The said Professorship shall be a full-time office within the
meaning of the Statutes of the College and of the University. The term
"full-time" in this case shall not be interpreted as precluding the
holder of the Professorship from holding and receiving a stipend
wholly in respect of a full-time appointment of the kind specified in
section 6 of this Chapter.
- The stipend of the Professorship shall be as set forth in Statute
CXI., Chapter I., section 4(a). The provisions of Statute LXVII.,
Chapter IV., as amended, shall also apply to the office.
- The said Professorship shall be a pensionable office to which
the provisions of Statute LXXIX, as amended, and the Pension
Scheme annexed thereto as amended, shall apply.
- The duties of the Professor shall be to lecture in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University, and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also
examine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the College and, if
required by the Senate to do so, for the University.
- The said Professorship shall be tenable only by the holder in a
permanent capacity of an office as a consultant in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology under the Southern Health Board in a hospital or
hospitals or in an institution or institutions, recognised by the College
and the University as teaching hospitals or institutions and in which,
he shall have as of right the control of an adequate teaching or professional unit or units of beds, as determined by the Governing Body,
and where he shall be the Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in charge.
- Notwithstanding the provisions of section 1 of this Chapter.
the provisions of Statute CI., Chapter I., section 4, shall also apply to
the office,
- The part-time Professorship of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
established by Statute I., Chapter XII., section 1, shall, on the
occurrence of the next vacancy therein, be abolished.
CHAPTER III.
Lectureship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- There shall be established in the College, in the event of its
institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in
Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- The said Lectureship shall be a full-time office within the
meaning of the Statutes of the College and of the University. The term
"full-time" in this case shall not be interpreted as precluding the
holder of the Lectureship from holding and receiving a stipend wholly
in respect of a full-time appointment of the kind specified in section 6
of this Chapter.
- The stipend of the Lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Statute CXI., Chapter 1., section 5(b). The provisions of
Statute LXVII., as amended, shall also apply to the office.
- The said Lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the
provisions of Statute LXXIX., as amended, and the Pension Scheme
annexed thereto as amended, shall apply.
- The duties of the Lecture shall be to lecture in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology under the direction of the Professor of Obstetrics and
Gynaecology for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall
also examine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the College and, if
required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be
assigned to him by the said Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- The said Lectureship shall be tenable only by the holder, in a
permanent capacity, of an office of consultant in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology under the Southern Health Board, in a hospital or
hospitals or in an institution or institutions recognised by the College
and by the University as teaching hospitals or institutions and in which
both he and the Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology shall, as of
right, have the control of adequate teaching or professional units of
beds, as determined by the Governing Body and where the Professor
shall be the Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in charge.
- Notwithstanding the provisions of section 1 of this Chapter, the
provisions of Statute CI., Chapter I., section 4, shall also apply to the
office.
- The two part-time Lectureships in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
established by Statute LIX., Chapter III., are hereby abolished provided that the abolition, in the case of one of the said Lectureships,
which is held by a recognised Clinical Teacher in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology at Erinville Hospital, Cork, shall not take effect until
the occurrence of a vacancy therein, other than a vacancy arising
under the provisions of Statute XXVIII., Chapter II., Section 3.
The Professorship and Lectureship hereby established shall be
tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions and the
holders thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as
if the said Professorship and Lectureship had been included in
Statutes I. to CXII. of University College, Cork.
- This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I.
to CXII. of University College, Cork and may be cited as Statute
CXIII. of University College, Cork or Stat. CXIII. of Univ. Coll.
Cork.
- This Statute shall come into operation on the twenty-eighth
day of April, 1977.

was affixed.
