We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Statutes I. to CV. of University College, Cork shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.
Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in Statutes I. to CV. of University College, Cork, the annual stipends of the President, of the professorships, readerships and certain lectureships set forth in this chapter and of the Officers of the College shall, as from 1 September, 1975, be those hereinafter set forth.
The annual stipend of the President shall be £13,625. He shall also be entitled to residence, fuel and light valued for pension purposes at £1,032 per annum. In addition, he shall receive a non-pensionable allowance in respect of the expenses of his office, the annual amount of such allowance to be £1,619.
The annual stipend of the Registrar shall be the same as that provided in section 4(a). of this Chapter. The present holder of this office shall also be entitled to residence, fuel and light, valued for pension purposes at £1,032. The Governing Body, may at its discretion, pay a cash allowance equivalent to the pensionable value of residence, fuel and light.
(a) Subject to section 8 of this Chapter, the annual stipend of each full-time professorship (including the full-time professorships in the Faculty of Dairy Science) with the exception of the full-time professorships referred to in sub-sections (b), (a) and (d) of this Chapter, shall be as set out in Column A of the First Appendix annexed hereto.
Provided that the annual stipend to be paid to each of the present holders of the professorships of Anatomy, of Experimental Physics and of Physiology shall be as set out in Column B of the First Appendix annexed hereto.
(b) Subject to section 8 of this Chapter, the annual stipend of each of the full-time professorships set out in this sub-section shall be as set out in Column C of the First Appendix annexed hereto:

(c) Subject to section 8 of this Chapter, the annual stipend of each full-time associate professorship shall be as set out in Column D of the First Appendix annexed hereto.
Provided that the annual stipend to be paid to the present holder of the Associate Professorship of Irish Language and Literature (Modern Irish Literature) and to the present holder of the Associate Professorship of Chemistry shall be as set out in Column E of the First Appendix annexed hereto.
(d) The annual stipend of each of the full-time professorships set out in this sub-section shall be £6,707.50.
Provided that the total of the annual stipend herein provided and the annual salary payable to the holder as consultant by the Southern Health Board shall not exceed £13,415.

(e) The annual stipend of each of the part-time professorships set out in this sub-section shall be £2,696.

(f) The annual stipend of the part-time Professorship of Chemical Spectroscopy shall be £331.
(g) The annual stipend of the part-time Professorship of Mathematical Statistics shall be £1,798.
(a) Subject to section 8 of this Chapter, the annual stipend of Readerships shall be as set out in Column A of the Second Appendix annexed hereto.
Provided that the annual stipend to be paid to the present Reader in Chemistry and to the present Reader in Electrical Engineering shall be as set out in Column B of the Second Appendix annexed hereto.
(a) Subject to section 8 of this Chapter, the annual stipend of each full-time lectureship (including the full-time lectureships in the Faculty of Dairy Science), with the exception of the Lectureship in Computer Science and of the full-time lectureships referred to in sub-sections (b), (c) and (d) of this Chapter shall be as set out in Column C of the Second Appendix annexed hereto.
(b) Subject to section 8 of this Chapter, the annual stipend of each of the full-time lectureships set out in this sub-section shall be as set out in Column D of the Second Appendix annexed hereto:

(c) Subject to section 8 of this Chapter, the annual stipend of the Lectureship in Preventive Dentistry shall be as set out in Column E of the Second Appendix annexed hereto.
(d) The annual stipend of each of the full-time lectureships set out in this sub-section shall be £5,666.50.
Provided that the total of the annual stipend herein provided and the annual salary payable to the holders as consultant by the Southern Health Board shall not exceed £11,333.

(a) The annual stipend of each of the Offices of Finance Officer and Secretary, of College Engineer and Planning Officer, of Dean of Student Affairs and of Librarian shall be the same as that provided in section 4.(a) hereof
(b) The annual stipend of the Directorship of the Computer Bureau (the holder of which also holds the Lectureship in Computer Science) shall be the same as that provided in section 4.(a) hereof.
The minimum stipend specified in the First and Second Appendices annexed hereto shall be paid in respect of the first year of appointment and each of the subsequent stipend points shall respectively be payable as from each of the annual anniversaries of the date of appointment until the maximum stipend is payable and said maximum stipend shall thenceforth be payable.
Provided that the Governing Body, on the recommendation of the President, shall have power to determine that any stipend point may be paid in respect of the first year of appointment to a holder of a full-time statutory office with special professional experience; on the occurence of such an event, the subsequent stipend points shall respectively be payable as from each of the annual anniversaries of the date of appointment until the maximum stipend is payable and said maximum stipend shall thenceforth be payable.
Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., section 2, as already amended, is hereby further amended to the extent that the amount of the children's allowances shall, in respect of the period from 1 March, 1975, to 31 May, 1975, be £106 per annum and shall as from 1 September, 1975, be £120 per annum.
Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in Statutes I. to CV of University College, Cork, the annual stipends of certain part-time lectureships of the College shall, as from 1 October, 1975, be those hereinafter set forth.

The Governing Body has in accordance with the provision of Clause 8 of the Pension Scheme annexed to Statute LXXIX., reviewed the pensions payable to retired participants in the Scheme and to the widows of former participants or retired participants. In consequence thereof the following revised annual pensions set out in Column A shall be payable as from 1 December, 1974; those set out in Column B shall be payable in respect of the period 1 March, 1975, to 31 May, 1975, and those set out in Column C shall be payable as from 1 September, 1975.

The First Appendix annexed to Statute CII. is hereby amended as follows:

The Second Appendix annexed to Statute CII. is hereby amended as follows:

In consequence thereof the revised annual pensions set out in this Chapter shall be payable in respect of the period specified in section 2 hereof .

Statute CI., Chapter VII., section 4, is hereby amended.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, an associate professorship in the Department of Physiology to be known as the Associate Professorship of Physiology.
The said associate professorship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University The stipend of the associate professorship shall be the same as that set out in Chapter I., section 4(c). of this Statute. The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the associate professor shall be to lecture in Physiology under the direction of the Professor of Physiology for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Physiology for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Physiology.
Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in this or any other Statute the said associate professor shall not be eligible for appointment as Deputy to the President or as acting President of the College.
The said associate professorship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX., as amended, and of the Pension Scheme annexed thereto, as amended, shall apply.
The said associate professorship is intended to be in substitution for the Lectureship in Physiology, established by Statute LV., Chapter IX., which said lectureship shall cease to exist if the holder thereof is appointed to the associate professorship hereby established or ceases by resignation or otherwise to hold office.
The associate professorship hereby established shall be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions and the holder thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if said associate professorship had been included in Statutes I., to CV. of University College, Cork.
This statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I. to CV., of University College, Cork and may be cited as Statutes CVI. of University College, Cork or Stat. CVI., of Univ. Coll., Cork.
This Statute shall come into operation on the twentieth day of January, 1976.
