Former student Peter Fennell using mathematics to help homeless people in LA

Peter Fennell was recently granted a prestigious fellowship, giving him an opportunity to work in any institution in the United States.

Peter graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc), Mathematics and Statistics, Universisty College Cork in 2009 with First Class Honours. He went on to graduate with a PhD under the supervision of Prof. James Gleeson in the department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Limerick in 2015.

Peter is now a James S. McDonnell postdoctoral fellow at the Information Science Institute in the University of Southern California where his research focuses on diffusive and contagious behaviour in social networks, and appropriate ways to analyse and model such phenomena. He has already found interesting applications for his work including helping homelss people in LA as reported by:
