International Students and Courses

We welcome International students at the Faculty of Law, University College Cork.  Students from all over the world study law at UCC at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

International students can apply to study all our law programmes at University College Cork and we also have programmes tailored to the needs of international students.

Practising Law in Ireland

Law is studied as an undergraduate subject in Ireland.  The basic law degree is the BCL, which is three years long. While the BCL qualifies students for a whole range of careers, those wishing to practise law must first obtain a professional qualification.

In Ireland, this is achieved by taking a course of study at either The Law Society Of Ireland for those who want to become a Solicitor, or at The Honorable Society of King's Inns for those who want to be a Barrister.
