FAQ to register for Self Service Password Manager:

1.      Why do I need to register for Self Service Password Manager?

By registering for this service it will allow you to reset your @ucc.ie email password yourself.  This is the fastest and most convenient way to reset your password.

2.       How do I register for Self Service Password Manager?

To register for Self Service Password Reset please follow these instructions:

  • Click Here
  • Click on Step 1 Register
  • When prompted for  credentials please enter your @ucc.ie email address and password
  • Follow the instructions on screen
  • You are required to answer three security questions and enter your mobile number
  • Now you’re registered!

3.       Why do I need to enter my phone number?

As part of the password reset process, a one time use security code will be sent to the mobile phone number you registered. 

4.   What format should my phone number be in?

Your mobile phone number must be entered in the following format: 3538xxxxxxxx E.G. 353861234567.  If it is not entered in the correct format it can lead to delays in recieving the text when resetting your password.  Only Irish mobile numbers can be used with Self Service Password Manager.

5.       I don’t know my @ucc.ie email password how do I register?

You must have an @ucc.ie email password in order to complete the initial registration for Self Service Password Manger, if you do not know your @ucc.ie email password then you should contact the Staff IT Helpdesk at 021-4902120

6.      How is the data I provide stored?

The data you provide is stored in a secure SQL database in the Kane Building and the data is encrypted.  Your mobile phone number will only be used for password reset purposes.

 

FAQ to reset password using Self Service Password Manager

1.       How do I Reset my @ucc.ie email password?

First you must have already registered to use the Self Service Password Manager Service, if you have not done this please find information here.

If you have already registered for the service then please follow these instructions:

  • Click Here
  • Click on Step 2 Password Reset
  • When prompted enter your @ucc.ie email address
  • Follow the instructions on screen
  • You are required to answer one security questions and then a security code will be sent to your registered mobile phone
  • Enter your security code that you received to your mobile phone
  • Enter your new password
  • You can now use your new @ucc.ie email password!

2.       I have answered the security question but I have not received a security code?

You may have to wait up to 2 minutes to receive your security code and it will be sent to the phone number you provided when you registered.  If you do not recieve a code start again.

3.       My phone number has changed since I first registered, what can I do?

You need to register again if your phone number has changed, please follow the instructions here.

4.       I put in the incorrect answer to my security question, what can I do?

You will get three attempts to answer your security question, please try again.

5.       I can’t remember the answers I gave to my security questions?

You need to register again if you do not know the answers to your security questions, please follow the instructions here.

6.       I’m abroad and need to reset my password, can I do this?

Yes, you can reset your password from anywhere that you have access to the internet.  However, please note, only Irish mobile numbers will work with the Self Service Password Manager.

7.    I still have a problem?
