School of Geography and Archaeology: The Human Environment
The School is a constituent of the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences (CACSSS). It is also an Associate School within the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science (SEFS). The School comprises the Departments of Archaeology and Geography. Its different studies examine the fundamental spatial and temporal relationships between people and the natural world. As such, the work of the School brings together many complementary aspects of the Arts and Sciences. Department of Geography
Geography is about studying the Earth, its environments, systems, resources and peoples. It is involved with helping solve practical problems of living on planet Earth. Geography provides numerous career links and outlets, through the Arts, Social Sciences and Sciences.
Department of Archaeology
Archaeology is the study of human history, from the discovery of the first human remains and stone tools (over 3.4 million years old) through to most recent times. It is a subject with great popular appeal and offers many career opportunities. Archaeology is about discovering and interpreting the past.
