1 The Library

Retirees retain borrowing privileges including remote access to electronic journals.

2 Mardyke Sports Arena

The Arena offers special membership rates to pensioners. Contact the Mardyke on 021-4904751 for further details.

3 UCC Advantage Scheme

Retirees can continue to avail of the discounts through the UCC Advantage Scheme upon production of a UCC ID card. Retirees can make an appointment with Gillian Aughney in the HR Department for a card on 021-4903603.

4 Staff Sports and Social Club

Retirees can maintain their membership or join the Club for a nominal fee of €2.50 per month to access the full range of staff events and family activities organised by the Club. E-mail sportsandsocialclub@ucc.ie for further details.

5 Computers & E-mail

Retirees can purchase computer hardware from the Computer Centre for personal use at the same discounted rate as staff. Payment can be made by cheque or by deductions from pension. Contact hardwarepurchase@ucc.ie for further details.

Retirees can keep their staff e-mail account and continue to get IT assistance from the Computer Helpdesk on extension 2120. Please note: e-mail addresses may be deleted from some distribution lists upon retirement.

6 Employee Assistance Programme

Retirees and their immediate family members can continue to avail of the services of the Employee Assistance Programme free of charge. Short-term face-to-face counselling, 24-hour telephone counselling and phone based legal and financial advice are available on freephone 1800 409 476. This service has been externally contracted to Positive People Company to maintain the confidentiality of the service.

7 Voluntary Life Assurance

Upon retirement, for staff that are already members, there is a "continuation option" to stay within the UCC group scheme. The benefits are that retired staff can continue to avail of the group preferential rate and a medical questionnaire does not need to be completed. 8 Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme for Pensioners

Provides cover 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, worldwide, specifically in relation to accidents. Competitive membership rates are available to UCC pensioners. Contact Kathy O'Connell in the HR Department for further details on, 021-4902674 (Mon-Fri, 09.15 - 17.00).

9 Retired Staff Association

The Retired Staff Association meets at 15.00 on the second Tuesday of every month in the Staff Common Room. All pensioners are welcome.

10 Staff Common Room

Free membership of the Common Room is available upon retirement for those that have paid a membership subscription for at least a year before retirement. Contact JP Quinn, Membership Secretary for further details.

11 Fee Concessions

Retirees can apply for a fee concession for a course of study if they have not exhausted their entitlement while in employment in UCC (TERMS AND CONDITIONS APPLY). Entitlements and procedures for undergraduate and postgraduate courses are covered in UCC's policy for Staff Fee Concessions. The Adult Education Centre also has a fee concession scheme available to retirees for short courses. Please click here for further details.
