UCC multidisciplinary team of 5 undergraduate students was awarded 1st place in a major international student competition: “IBM/IEEE Smarter Planet Challenge: Student Projects Changing the World.”

The Health Information Systems Research Centre was among the winners of the Irish Healthcare Awards in 2011 in the "Best Use of Information Technology" category.

The HISRC has been awarded Science Foundation Ireland funding for their electronic Early Warning Scorecard (e-EWS) project.

The 2011 Pervasive Health Conference was held in University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. It was chaired by Dr. John O’Donoghue, Co-Director of the Health Information Systems Research Centre (HISRC) in University College Cork and Prof. Gregory O’Hare, Head of the Department of Computer Science, UCD.

The Health Information Systems Research Centre (HISRC) was launched in February 2011 by President of University College Cork, Dr. Michael Murphy.
