Welcome from Professor Nuala Finnegan
Welcome to the Department of Hispanic Studies, UCC's centre for research and teaching of the cultures and languages of the Hispanic world. You can study Spanish in a number of ways with us – at undergraduate, postgraduate or just for fun.
At undergraduate level, choose from:
BA in Languages and Cultural Studies
Many of these degrees include the option to study for a year in Spain or Mexico. We offer courses on the culture, history, film and literature of Latin America with a particular emphasis on Mexico, as the Department houses Ireland's only Centre for Mexican Studies. Students also have an option to study both the languages and cultures of Cataluña (Catalan) and Galicia (Gallego). The Irish Centre for Galician Studies is both a research and teaching focus for the Department.
You can also study at postgraduate level or on a more informal level from the wide range of courses available on our Evening Course Programme
We also offer Portuguese - both language and cultural courses - for those students eager to pursue interests in the Lusophone world, either Brazil or Portugal.
Do get in touch, we are always happy to help!
¡Bienvenidos y mucha suerte!
