Symposium on Deliberative Democracy

Professor Jurg Steiner of the University of Bern and the European Institute of Florence will deliver the keynote address at a Symposium in UCC on Friday March 26th. An eminent political scientist who is widely published in several languages, Professor Steiner will present his latest research entitled ‘Deliberation: Empirical Research and Normative implications’.
This symposium on deliberative democracy will include speakers from the UK and the island of Ireland and will address the challenges of deliberative experimentation and application. The topics discussed will range from fairness in participatory budgeting in the UK to formalised dialogue between the Church and State in Ireland. It is organised by the Department of Government in conjunction with ISS21.
